Danny Amendola could miss "2-6 weeks"

Going into the season, there were two basic thoughts about the outlook for Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola.

The first part of the thought process was that Amendola could put up monster (Wes Welker-like) numbers in this offense if he could stay healthy. The second part of that thought process was the concerns about his durability.

In Week 1 against the Bills, Amendola finished with 10 receptions for 104 yards, both of which were team highs, and a groin injury, which highlights both points earlier.

Now that we are only 60-plus minutes away from Week 2, the Patriots will be without Amendola, but they could be without him for more than just this week.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Amendola could miss the next 2-6 weeks.

That opens the door for Julian Edelman and Kenbrell Thompkins, who were targeted heavily in Week 1, and Aaron Dobson and Josh Boyce. Dobson was inactive last week, but he is active this week.

Among all of the Patriots wide receivers, I have Edelman ranked the highest at No. 23.
