Julio Jones to have foot surgery, out for season
The fears and expectations were that Falcons receiver Julio Jones would miss the rest of the season after sustaining a foot injury in Sunday night's loss to the Jets.
Those fears were confirmed today when Jones visited with Dr. Robert Anderson for a second opinion and he will have surgery next week, per ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
Per Jason Cole, Jones broke the screw that was put in his foot in a 2011 surgery.
Jones leads the league in receptions (41) and ranks second in receiving yards (580) behind only Saints tight end Jimmy Graham (593).
With Jones out for the year, Roddy White, Harry Douglas, Drew Davis and Kevin Cone will have an opportunity for more work, but White (hamstring) is considered to be only "50-50, at best" for Week 7 after the team's bye.
