Week 9 NFL Picks Against the Spread (Beazley)
Here are my Week 9 NFL picks against the spread:
Atlanta Falcons +8 (over Carolina Panthers)
Since when did Atlanta become a doormat in the NFC South? They have lost their best offensive player in Julio Jones, but Harry Douglas and Drew Davis both stepped up last week and showed that they could be trusted options for Matt Ryan.
Carolina has won three straight, but they have not beaten a quality opponent all year. Their schedule has actually been pretty easy. I still think they are a big-name wide receiver away from contending in the NFC.
It wouldn't shock me to see Carolina lose this one, but I will call for the late FG win, 23-20.

Houston Texans +3 (over Indianapolis Colts)
The loss of Reggie Wayne will really hurt the Colts, and this is step one of their eventual fall out of first place in the AFC South. T.Y. Hilton is a slot WR, and Darrius Heyward-Bey does not have the skill set to be a No. 1 WR. I don't think Andrew Luck is at that level yet like an Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees where he can make a no-name WR a star.
Case Keenum has looked pretty good thus far, and I think Keenum will have a big game on Sunday connecting on three touchdown passes. Matt Schaub's days of starting for the Texans will be officially over after this game.
The home team is also 6-0 ATS in the past six meetings, and I think Houston makes it seven this week. Houston, 31-24.
Tennessee Titans -3 (over St. Louis Rams)
I have to pick this game as we got the Titans facing former coach Jeff Fisher for the first time. This is the first game for the Titans since owner Bud Adams passed away. I think Titans will be fired up for this one.
St. Louis is just off a heart-breaking Monday Night loss at home to the Seahawks where their defense looked absolutely amazing. Robert Quinn might be the best DE that nobody has heard of.
My main problem with the Rams is on the other side of the ball. Kellen Clemens was awful on Monday Night. He had multiple opportunities to make big plays and he failed.
On the other hand, Jake Locker had the benefit of having that bye week at a perfect time to give his hip another week of rest. I think with the added rest, and reps in practice he will return to the form he was before the injury. Locker is a fantasy sleeper this week as I think he might have one of his best games as a pro.
Titans win big, 38-20.
