Week 13 NFL Picks Against the Spread (Yanotchko)
Here are my Week 13 NFL picks against the spread:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +7 (over Carolina Panthers)
The Buccaneers have been frisky as of late, as they have won three in a row, while the Panthers have really turned it on, as they have not lost in seven straight.
The Panthers haven't really been blowing teams out, and they needed help from the Dolphins by missing a field goal and help from the refs to beat the Patriots, as their last three games have been decided by a margin of nine total points.
The Bucs will be able to slow down the Carolina rushing attack, as they only allow 101 yards per game on the ground, and also have the capability to take away Steve Smith in the passing game. The Panthers will win this game, but I feel that it will be closer than a touchdown, and I will take the seven for a suddenly improved Tampa Bay squad.
St. Louis Rams +8 (over San Francisco 49ers)
This game used to always be dominated by the 49ers, but ever since Jeff Fisher has come to town, the Rams play San Francisco very hard. The Rams do have history on their side, as they have gone 5-2 against the number in their last seven games with the 49ers.
San Francisco has been struggling in the passing game this year, and they only compiled 150 yards total in the air earlier this year against the Rams. St. Louis has also shored up their rushing defense, as they now only allow 111.4 yards per game against them on the ground.
I love the attacking Rams defense, and the ability to shorten the game with Zac Stacy, and again while the Rams may not win this game, I will still take eight points in a divisional game.
New York Giants -1 (over Washington Redskins)
If not tonight, well then we can really say for certain that the Giants season has been a total loss. Several times this year, they have lost games they usually win, but they need this one to have any hope of the playoffs.
The Redskins are a floundering team, and even opponents are stating that RGIII should not be in the starting lineup, as he is not fully healed from his ACL tear.
The Giants will be able to exploit the awful Washington defense, as they give up 271 yards per game though the air, and Eli Manning has put 21-plus points on the board in his last three games. The Giants also have the ability to bottle up the one of the few weapons Washington has in Alfred Morris, as the Giants rush defense only allows 98.8 yards per game and 3.4 yards per carry. The Giants need this one, and Washington looks like a ship without a rudder, so I will lay the one point here for the Giants.
Five of our contributors make three weekly picks ATS every week and they will be posted here.
