Saints, Pierre Thomas agree to 2-year extension
With the extension, PT is under contract through 2016, but it's unlikely that the 29-year-old back is on the roster for all three seasons.
Thomas led the Saints in rushing with 549 yards last season and he led NFL running backs in receptions (77), although teammate Darren Sproles had more receiving yards (604 yards on 71 catches).
Sproles, who turns 31 years old in June, won't be on the roster this season as the Saints weigh potential trade offers from other teams.
With Sproles soon to be gone, I wouldn't be surprised to see Thomas lead the league's backs in receptions again, but I'm not sure if that number increases much, if at all, from a career-best 77. Meanwhile, the roles/workloads of Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson should increase significantly from last year.
Before the start of free agency, I had Robinson ranked the highest among Saints' backs in my 2014 fantasy football running back rankings assuming that Thomas and Sproles would be gone.
