Report: No decision on Josh Gordon's looming suspension this week
Hurry up. And wait.
The NFL season begins in 13 days (but who's counting?) and there won't be a decision this week on the looming full-year suspension of Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Perhaps the longer they take to make a decision implies that Gordon's odds of getting the suspension reduced are improving. Or not. Who knows?
Ultimately, it means that fantasy football drafters will go into the weekend without clarity of Gordon's status. There is no truer example of a high-risk, high-reward pick in fantasy football.
If Gordon's suspension is reduced, he would immediately become an elite WR1 for the weeks that he is eligible. Of course, he may not be eligible at all this season.
As of today, Gordon's average draft position (ADP) via Fantasy Football Calculator is 9.07 (overall pick 102.9) and WR41. Other receivers going in that range are Riley Cooper (WR39), Rueben Randle (WR40), Dwayne Bowe (WR42), Tavon Austin (WR43), Hakeem Nicks (WR44) and Justin Hunter (WR45).
So, do you take a chance on the guaranteed upside from his current ADP if the ban's reduced? Or risk getting zero fantasy points at a point when you could get a solid contributor to your squad?
