Report: Rob Gronkowski's status for Week 1 is "50-50"
According to a report tonight from Pro Football Talk, however, Gronk's "availability sits at 50-50, with perhaps a shade above the even-money proposition" for Week 1.
Considering it's only been seven months since Gronk's January ACL surgery, it makes sense that he might not be ready for the opener (or the first couple of games). With more surgeries than I can count on one hand over the past two years, it's another reason to be cautious.
While he missed nine games last season and durability remains a concern, Gronkowski led tight ends last year with a career-high 84.6 yards per game — Jimmy Graham (75.9 YPG) and Jordan Cameron (61.1) were second and third among tight ends, respectively. In addition, Gronk has scored 43 touchdowns in his 50 career games.
Since the beginning of the year, Gronk's ADP (via Fantasy Football Calculator) has increased from 4.08 in January to his current ADP of 3.02.
