Most have Blackmon, the two-time Biletnikoff winner, going in the top six picks to either Cleveland at No. 4 or, more likely, St. Louis at No. 6.

In my opinion, the gap between the two receivers is relatively small, but one of the things working against both receivers going high is the depth of the position. Teams that pick high in the first round will have plenty of talented options on the board in the second round, third round, etc.

In his latest mock draft (to be updated within an hour), Brendan Donahue has Blackmon "slipping" to No. 7 to Jacksonville and Floyd going to Miami at No. 8.

While Floyd has good size (6-2 5/8, 220 pounds) and speed (4.47 forty at the combine), he has also had some off-field issues (some previous drunk-driving arrests).

Over his four-year career, Floyd finished with a total of 271 receptions for 3,686 yards and 37 touchdowns. Last year, Floyd had 100 receptions for 1,147 yards and nine touchdowns.

Notre Dame's Michael Floyd busted for DUI

Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd was arrested on the school's campus for drunk driving early Sunday morning, per WNDU-TV in South Bend (via College Football Talk).

Per WNDU-TV, Floyd is scheduled to appear in court on April 2nd.

This is not the first time that Floyd has had legal troubles involving alcohol.

In January 2010, Floyd was cited for underage drinking in his hometown of Minneapolis. With blood on his shirt and hands, Floyd told police then that he was involved in a fight at a party when he and Minnesota running back Shady Salamon, who was driving and charged with DUI, were pulled over.

Floyd, who decided to return for his senior season at Notre Dame, finished with 79 receptions for 1,025 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2010. For his career, he ranks second in receptions (171), third in receiving yards (2,539) and first in receiving touchdowns (28).

ESPN's Mel Kiper has Floyd ranked as the third-best wide receiver prospect in the 2012 NFL Draft behind a pair of Big 12 receivers: Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon and Oklahoma's Ryan Broyles.

MSU beats Notre Dame with "Little Giants"

In case you missed it last night, the Michigan State Spartans used "Little Giants" to score the game-winning touchdown that beat Notre Dame in overtime.

"A difficult loss, obviously," [Notre Dame coach Brian] Kelly said. "It came down to one play. Michigan State executed the play, and we did not. We had a guy covering who fell down."

Here is the fake field-goal attempt (and touchdown pass):

And if you're a Notre Dame fan like me, you wish you had missed it. Or that it was all just a bad dream.

Weis era over in South Bend

His Notre Dame "internship" has officially come to an end.

Back in 2005, Charlie Weis signed a new 10-year contract to replace the six-year contract he had signed in 2004.

"In a very short period of time, Charlie has clearly and impressively demonstrated the ability to take the Notre Dame program where we all want it to go," said Notre Dame athletics director Kevin White at the time.

Today Notre Dame athletics director Jack Swarbrick announced that Weis won't be back as Notre Dame coach.

"He will go on to have great success. He'll add some Super Bowl rings to the ones he already has as a successful coordinator in the NFL and we will miss him," Swarbrick said (via ESPN). "But for us it's time to move forward. It's time to move forward because it is critical to this program and to its place in the university and college football that we compete at the highest level. That we compete for national championships."

Weis finished with a record of 35-27 in his five years as head coach in South Bend. In the past three seasons, however, Weis had a losing record (16-21).

With the Weis firing, there is a very high likelihood that top of its top playmakers -- QB Jimmy Clausen and WR Golden Tate -- will leave early for the NFL.

Although the interest may not be reciprocal (at least based on public comments), Florida's Urban Meyer and Oklahoma's Bob Stoops are rumored to be at the top of Notre Dame's list. ESPN's Adam Schefter has said that he's hearing (albeit not firsthand) that the interest from Stoops is "mutual."

Other possible candidates are Cincinnati's Brian Kelly, TCU's Gary Patterson, Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald and Iowa's Kirk Ferentz, among others.

Michael Floyd ahead of schedule on return

Notre Dame receiver Michael Floyd, who broke his collarbone last month, may return sooner than expected, per ESPN.

He's participating in practice on a limited basis and could return as early as November 7th against Navy, according to a team spokesman. Initially, it was thought that he might return in time for a bowl game.

"Based off the results of that CAT scan they'll determine if and when we can get him back," [coach Charlie] Weis said. "Fingers crossed the earliest we can get him back is Pittsburgh."

The Irish play the Navy (11/7), Pittsburgh (11/14), UConn (11/21) and Stanford (11/28).

In three games, Floyd has 13 receptions for 358 yards and five touchdowns.
