Urban Meyer to stay at Florida forever?

FedEx BCS National Championship Game - Oklahoma v Florida

Per Pat Dooley of GatorSports.com, Florida Gators coach Urban Meyer is never leaving Florida for Notre Dame. Ever.

Appearing at the Bob Dooley Invitational, Meyer said, "I'm not going to Notre Dame. Ever. I'm going to be the coach at Florida for a long time, as long as they want me."

Hmmm...a coach saying he's never leaving a school and not keeping his word? Surely, that's never happened.

Meyer has won two BCS Championships in the past three years.

I'm not saying that Meyer intends to leave Florida for Notre Dame - or any other school - after this season. Nor am I saying that he should have said anything different.

But in a world where coaches always seem tempted by larger challenges and/or their "dream jobs," their absolute statements rarely hold true.

Only time will tell whether or not Meyer will later be reminded of his comments.
