Everett Golson has left Notre Dame
Notre Dame starting quarterback Everett Golson is no longer enrolled at the school and it's believed to be related to a residence life violation, according to Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune.
Per the report, it is unclear whether Golson will be able to apply for re-admission to the school, but he is not expected to play for the team in 2013.
Golson helped lead the Irish to an appearance in the national championship game against Alabama and finished the season with 2,405 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also ran for 298 yards and six touchdowns.
With Gunner Kiel transferring to Cincinnati, that means Tommy Rees will likely be the starter this season. As the starter in 2011, Rees threw for 2,871 yards, 20 touchdowns and 14 interceptions that season.
Update: The following was tweeted by Hamilton: "To be (a little) more specific on Everett Golson: An academic violation behind the QB no longer being enrolled at #NotreDame, per sources."
