Fantasy Football Week 14: Studs and Duds from Sunday's Games

With only one game remaining in Week 14, I took a look at some of today's outstanding (and not-so-outstanding) performances.

Here are some Week 14 Fantasy Football Studs from Sunday:

QB - Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts: Of course, I jinxed Luck into his best performance of the season by listing him on the "sit'em" side of my Week 14 Start'em, Sit'em column. (Hopefully, you didn't listen to my advice.) Entering this week's game with two touchdowns and five interceptions in his previous four games, Luck threw for 326 yards, four scores and no picks against one of the league's tougher pass defenses.

[If you're looking for a quarterback to start in Week 15, just check back later in the week for my QB "sit'em."]

QB - Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos: Against one of the league's better pass defenses, Manning threw for 397 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions. He now has seven games with four or more touchdown passes on the season and is only five touchdowns away from tying Tom Brady's single-season touchdown record.

RB - LeSean McCoy, Philaelphia Eagles: Not only did he set the franchise's single-game rushing record with 217 yards, but McCoy exceeded the combined output of the previous five opponents of the Lions stout run defense.

RB - Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs: With a favorable matchup against the Redskins, Charles ran for a season-high 151 yards and scored two touchdowns (one rushing and one receiving). In his past three games, Charles has 436 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns.

RB - Shane Vereen, New England Patriots: While he had only three carries for nine yards, Vereen still had a monster game. Not only did he rush for a score, but he led the team in receiving with 12 catches for 153 yards on his 17 targets. In his past four games since returning from short-term IR, Vereen has 33 receptions for 315 yards and a touchdown plus 85 rushing yards and a touchdown.

RB - Marcel Reece, Oakland Raiders: With Rashad Jennings (concussion) out, Reece had a great game against the Jets, who entered the week as the league's top-ranked rush defense. Reece rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown and added two receptions for 38 yards. Assuming that Jennings returns in Week 15, Reece may see his role diminished, but you never know with concussions.

WR - Josh Gordon, Cleveland Browns: After breaking the franchise's single-game receiving record in consecutive weeks, Gordon followed up those performances with 151 receiving yards to break the team's single-season record. In just 11 games, Gordon has 71 receptions for 1,400 yards and eight touchdowns.

WR - Da'Rick Rogers, Indianapolis Colts: The former five-star recruit and AP first team All-SEC selection, Rogers had a breakout performance for the Colts. Not only did he record his first NFL reception, but he finished with team highs across the board: six catches, 107 yards, two touchdowns and nine targets.

WR - Cordarrelle Patterson, Minnesota Vikings: Coincidentally, Rogers was one of three rookie (and ex-Tennessee Volunteer) receivers to finish with 100-plus yards today as Patterson and Titans rookie Justin Hunter did as well. Patterson had five catches for 141 yards and a score plus one run for six yards in one of the most exciting games in the history of the NFL.

WR - Marques Colston, New Orleans Saints: The Panthers had allowed one touchdown to wide receivers from Weeks 3 to 13. Colston had twice as many Sunday night and finished with nine catches for 125 yards for his best performance of the season.

TE - Jordan Cameron, Cleveland Browns: In his previous four games, Cameron had a total of 14 catches for 108 yards and no scores. Bouncing back nicely against the Patriots, Cameron had nine receptions (on nine targets) for 121 yards and a touchdown.

TE - Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints: Graham finished with six receptions for 58 yards and two touchdowns. Graham has now scored in three consecutive games and has a total of 14 touchdowns on the season.

Here are some Week 14 Fantasy Football Duds from Sunday:

QB - Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions: Stafford completed just 40 percent of his 25 pass attempts for a season-low 148 yards and was held without a touchdown pass for the first time this season. The weather played a role in Stafford's performance, but Nick Foles (19) scored nearly four times as many fantasy points as Stafford (five).

QB - E.J. Manuel, Buffalo Bills: While Manuel was likely started only in very deep leagues or those that start two QBs, he barely scored this week. With 184 passing yards, no touchdowns and four interceptions, Manuel only finished with positive points (or technically one positive point) due to his rushing (29 yards).

RB - Donald Brown, Indianapolis Colts: It was one of the few times in his Colts' tenure that Trent Richardson outperformed Brown. Brown had just 29 yards from scrimmage on eight touches.

RB - Alfred Morris, Washington Redskins: For a second week in a row, Morris was limited on the ground (31 yards) but he didn't score this week and finished with just three fantasy points. Alf now has single-digit fantasy points in three of his past four games, but he has two nice matchups for the remainder of the fantasy playoffs — Falcons and Cowboys, respectively.

RB - Fred Jackson, Buffalo Bills: Jackson had five carries for 12 yards, both of which were season lows. After scoring double-digit fantasy points in seven of eight games, Jackson has only one game with double-digit fantasy points in his past five games.

RB - C.J. Spiller, Buffalo Bills: Spiller carried the ball 11 times for only 22 yards although he added a reception for 26 yards. On the season, Spiller has three 100-yard rushing games and five games with less than 25 rushing yards. Spiller and Jackson face the Jaguars next week and should have a solid opportunity to bounce back.

RB - Pierre Thomas, New Orleans Saints: Even though Mark Ingram had a worse game (three carries for four yards), PT was in more starting lineups and therefore disappointed more owners. Against the tough Panthers defense, he finished with only 28 yards from scrimmage on 11 touches. It was second consecutive game with just two fantasy points.

WR - Pierre Garcon, Washington Redskins: There were a lot of dud receivers today as you might imagine due to the challenging weather conditions around the country. Garcon was targeted 12 times, yet he finished with only three fantasy points as he ended up with five catches for only 37 yards.

WR - Torrey Smith, Baltimore Ravens : Despite the favorable matchup, Smith had a disappointing performance — one catch for 11 yards and a two-point conversion. Again, weather was a factor, but teammate Marlon Brown had seven catches for 92 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets.

WR - Harry Douglas, Atlanta Falcons: Douglas had just two catches for 20 yards on seven targets. That was his lowest output since Week 5. The Falcons receivers have a favorable matchup against the Redskins next week.

WR - Michael Floyd, Arizona Cardinals: After three consecutive games with double-digit fantasy points and at least 99 receiving yards in each of those games, Floyd had just two catches for 26 yards. Meanwhile, Larry Fitzgerald had 12/96/1 and extended his scoring streak to four consecutive games.

WR - Mike Wallace, Miami Dolphins: In his return to Pittsburgh, 60 Minutes had just two catches for 19 yards on four targets. Wallace has had his share of disappointing performances as he has two fantasy points or less in five games this season, but he had 12/209/2 in his previous two games combined.

WR - Kendall Wright, Tennessee Titans: For the first time since Week 1, Wright had less than 50 receiving yards. In fact, he had an eight-game streak of games with at least 69 yards. On Sunday, Wright had only two catches for 17 yards.

TE - Ladarius Green, San Diego Chargers: After three productive weeks, Green was held to no catches and was only targeted once. He had 9/206/2 in his previous three games.

My initial Week 15 fantasy football rankings will be released Monday night.
