Cam Ward — NFL Mock Draft Roundup 1.0

Leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, we will track where Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward appears in the latest NFL mock drafts.

Cam Ward NFL Mock Drafts

Here are some of the latest mock drafts in which Ward has appeared:

NFL.com — Eric Edholm

No. 3 overall — New York Giants

I still need more time to percolate on whether Ward could be the Year 1 savior, à la Jayden Daniels, but the Giants probably feel compelled to pull the trigger here if they don't go the veteran-QB route.

CBS Sports — Josh Edwards

No. 2 overall — Cleveland Browns

Cleveland may or may not be interested in one of the top quarterbacks, either. I believe it would be more inclined to consider Cam Ward at this stage of the process than Shedeur Sanders. Ward becomes the heir apparent to Deshaun Watson.

NFL.com — Bucky Brooks

No. 3 overall — New York Giants

The selection of this alpha-dog quarterback gives the Giants the competitive leader needed to bounce back from a couple of disappointing seasons.

Yahoo! — Tice/McDonald

No. 2 overall — Cleveland Browns

The Browns are in a tough spot with Deshaun Watson's contract looming large for the next few years, but they can at least give themselves an opportunity to move on at quarterback rather quickly with the selection of Ward. He's a gunslinger and a player who will try to make the most of whatever the defense offers up — which ends up in mistakes sometimes. Still, he has the aggressive style to end up as a high quality NFL passer. — Charles McDonald

The Athletic — Baumgardner/Dochterman

No. 3 overall — New York Giants

I'm still torn between Ward and Sanders for QB1, and there are days it feels like Sanders is more ready right now to lead a successful offense. But, long-term, Ward — who improved every day of his lengthy college career — could have the higher ceiling.

EDSFootball — Kevin Hanson

No. 1 overall — Tennessee Titans

Whether via free agency and/or the draft, it's clear that the Titans will add to their quarterback room with only Will Levis currently under contract for 2025. The former second-round pick has started 21 games over the past two seasons, a span during which he has thrown 21 touchdowns to 16 interceptions and has been sacked 69 times (tied for ninth-most over that stretch).

A lightly recruited prospect who took a winding path through college football (Incarnate Word to Washington State to Miami), Ward progressed each year and is a natural thrower with the mobility to extend and make plays.

The 33rd Team — Kyle Crabbs

No. 3 overall — New York Giants

The Giants lack the same fluidity as teams in Cleveland, with red tape around their quarterback situation, and in Tennessee, with a new regime in charge. New York has NO options and the best free agent option, Sam Darnold, has already tried life in the Big Apple — it didn't go well. Add in New York's shaky outlook with Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen on the hot seat, and their best chance at securing a longer opportunity is committing to a young quarterback who looks to be a viable long-term option as a rookie. Ward has the best tools of the top-tier quarterbacks, and his playmaking mentality would be a welcome departure from the Daniel Jones era.

NFL.com — Daniel Jeremiah

No. 3 overall — New York Giants

The Giants are desperate for a quarterback. Ward's strong arm and playmaking ability would be a great fit.

ESPN — Mel Kiper

No. 1 overall — Tennessee Titans

I was a fan of Will Levis when the Titans took him early on Day 2 in 2023, and there's still a chance he'll put it all together. But he hasn't played nearly well enough to keep the job in Tennessee. The Titans had the NFL's second-worst QBR (37.3) and interception total (21) this season as they bounced between Levis and Mason Rudolph.

I'm sure new general manager Mike Borgonzi will listen to trade offers here, but his real decision should come down to Ward vs. Colorado's Shedeur Sanders. I actually have Sanders ranked one spot ahead of Ward on my Big Board (No. 4 overall). Ward has the early top-pick buzz around the league, though, so that's where I'm leaning for now. He extends plays with his creativity, mobility and strong arm. Ward led the nation with 39 touchdown passes this season, and he'd help put the Titans back on track.
