Josh Simmons — NFL Mock Draft Roundup 1.0

Leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, we will track where Ohio State Buckeyes offensive tackle Josh Simmons appears in the latest NFL mock drafts.

Josh Simmons NFL Mock Drafts

Here are some of the latest mock drafts in which Simmons has appeared:

NFL.com — Eric Edholm

No. 23 overall — Green Bay Packers

I don't think Green Bay would hesitate to go offensive line in Round 1 for a second straight year, even if the cornerback need feels glaring. Simmons would be a good fit for what the Packers seek in blockers.

CBS Sports — Josh Edwards

No. 27 overall — Baltimore Ravens

Ronnie Stanley had battled injuries until this season and looked more like vintage Stanley. His representation is probably seeking a lot of money in free agency and his situation is a bit tricky with the injuries. The Ravens could theoretically move on from him and draft a left tackle, such as Josh Simmons.

NFL.com — Bucky Brooks

No. 26 overall — Los Angeles Rams

If Matthew Stafford and the Rams move forward together, continuing to build a fortress around the veteran quarterback has to be a top priority.

Yahoo! — Tice/McDonald

No. 10 overall — Chicago Bears

The Bears need offensive line help outside of right tackle, so here's a running mate for Darnell Wright on the offensive line. Simmons has a chance to be a riser during the draft process considering his skill level, athleticism and upside.

The Athletic — Baumgardner/Dochterman

No. 11 overall — San Francisco 49ers

Like Banks, Simmons is a super-athletic prospect who probably could wear a few different hats if a team asks him to. He suffered a season-ending knee injury midway through the season, and it took Ohio State a while to figure out how to play without him. He would be a perfect fit for everything Kyle Shanahan does.

EDSFootball — Kevin Hanson

No. 26 overall — Los Angeles Rams

Left tackle Alaric Jackson is a free agent, and Simmons was/is the potential OT1 in this class but is coming off a season-ending knee injury. When healthy, however, he has the foot quickness, agility, balance, and play strength to be a franchise left tackle.

The 33rd Team — Kyle Crabbs

No. 16 overall — Arizona Cardinals

Arizona's offense sure can run the ball. But both guards, Evan Brown, and Will Hernandez, are set to test the market, and the long-term outlook of Jonah Williams is modest, at best. The Cardinals can take advantage of Josh Simmons' slide due to a knee injury and add him to their ranks for an exciting addition across from (or next to) Paris Johnson Jr. Simmons was a right tackle at San Diego State before flipping sides at Ohio State. Many feel he's another player who could also project inside to guard if needed.

NFL.com — Daniel Jeremiah

No. 29 overall — Washington Commanders

The Commanders' offensive line has played well above expectations, but I think they need to upgrade the talent to protect Jayden Daniels going forward.

ESPN — Mel Kiper

No. 25 overall — Houston Texans

Here's another player who missed most of the 2024 season. Simmons was out after six games with a left knee injury. Had he stayed healthy, I think we'd be talking about him as a OT1 candidate in this class. He's consistent in pass protection and drives back defenders in the run game.

Houston's pass protection was anything but consistent this season, allowing 54 sacks (tied for third most). Quarterback C.J. Stroud was constantly on the run. The Texans have left tackle Laremy Tunsil under contract for two more seasons, but Simmons could fit in at right tackle or even a guard spot for now before potentially taking over on the left side down the road.
