Travis Hunter — NFL Mock Draft Roundup 1.0
Leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, we will track where Colorado Buffaloes CB/WR Travis Hunter appears in the latest NFL mock drafts.
Travis Hunter NFL Mock Drafts
Here are some of the latest mock drafts in which Hunter has appeared:
No. 2 overall — Cleveland Browns
The top two teams picking in this draft both need a quarterback, but I still suspect the Titans and Browns will take a similar approach: grab the best player available. There are other ways to find a QB, but there is only one Hunter.
No. 4 overall — New England Patriots
Colorado gets a two-way talent to support Drake Maye entering his second season. Travis Hunter may not be evaluated as highly as last year's top wide receivers, but his versatility to play both ways makes him more valuable.
No. 4 overall — New England Patriots
New head coach Mike Vrabel's personal experience as a two-way player could help the Patriots maximize this Heisman Trophy winner's potential as a combo playmaker in the NFL.
No. 1 overall — Tennessee Titans
The Titans said they want a "generational" talent at the top of the draft, though Cam Ward would still make sense if they decide to move on from Will Levis. There's also the possibility of adding more firepower to their defensive front with Abdul Carter, or a trade (a long-term right tackle would sure be nice). Really whatever adventure the Titans choose makes sense at the top of a wide open class. Hunter is a dynamic talent at cornerback, with even more to tap into. He would bring starpower to Tennessee's defense and help bolster the offense in a small role, too. — Nate Tice
The Athletic — Baumgardner/Dochterman
No. 2 overall — Cleveland Browns
After the financial and emotional anchor ownership put on management with the lengthy Deshaun Watson contract, the Browns need a jolt. Normally, a quarterback would make sense, but perhaps not with the Watson situation still unsettled.
In this case, the Browns would have two of the NFL's best athletes: Hunter and defensive end Myles Garrett. So, which position will Hunter play in the NFL? It doesn't matter. The Heisman Trophy winner will see some action on both sides of the ball before reaching his All-Pro potential at one of them.

Should the Patriots use this pick on defense or to help Drake Maye? Yes!
While Hunter won the Heisman Trophy (among other Player of the Year awards), he's such a rare two-way prospect that he won both the Fred Biletnikoff Award and the Chuck Bednarik Award, given to the nation's top receiver and defensive player, respectively. An ironman who rarely came off the field, Hunter will most likely be a full-time cornerback at the NFL level and a part-time receiver, but he has elite athleticism and ball skills to make plays on both sides of the ball. Christian Gonzalez and Hunter would form one of the league's best young cornerback duos, and he'd instantly be the team's best receiver (even if only part time).

No. 5 overall — Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville eventually got their man by hiring Liam Coen — although it didn't come without some drama. Thankfully for the Jaguars, the decision to move on from Trent Baalke was enough to seal the deal. The move opens Jacksonville up for more potential directions with their No. 5 overall selections versus the norms Baalke has become known for. Coen should bring some excitement to the organization. So, too, would Hunter as a viable two-way star who can change the game in many ways.
No. 2 overall — Cleveland Browns
Quarterback is in play here for the Browns, but in this scenario, they pick Hunter, the Heisman Trophy-winning two-way star. I'm in the minority as someone who prefers him as a full-time offensive player who moonlights on defense.
No. 2 overall — Cleveland Browns
Know how I just said the Titans had the league's second-worst QBR and INT total? Well, the Browns were the worst in both categories. Deshaun Watson also retore his right Achilles and Jameis Winston is a free agent, so taking Sanders isn't out of the question. But I think Cleveland is more likely to address another hole here and find QB reinforcements in free agency and/or later in the draft. (Trading back for more picks with another QB-needy team could be part of the equation, too.)
Plus, Hunter is just that good. I see elite quickness and ball skills on both sides of the ball, traits that helped him to 15 touchdown catches and four interceptions this season. The Browns would likely use him primarily at receiver and then sprinkle him in at cornerback in specific situations.
