Caleb Lomu — 2026 NFL Mock Draft Roundup 2.0

The Browns desperately need help at left tackle. Lomu is a better pass protector than run blocker at this stage.

Is this the year we finally see the 49ers draft the heir apparent to Trent Williams at left tackle? The future Hall of Famer will be in his age-38 season in 2026, meaning retirement could come in the near future. Lomu started the past two seasons at left tackle, moving Spencer Fano to the right side in the process. Lomu hasn't given up a sack since 2024 and has surrendered only three in his career. The 6-foot-6 308-pounder is an easy mover with the reactive agility to thrive in the 49ers' outside zone scheme. He also has the frame to keep adding muscle and strength.

The Lions' offensive line could use a youth infusion, and Lomu, more than any of the other available offensive tackles, would fit perfectly with what Dan Campbell wants. He is durable (800 snaps at left tackle last season) and allowed only two quarterback hits all year, according to PFF. It's possible he could step in at guard before shifting outside, if required.

The Browns desperately need to address their offensive line, which surrendered 51 sacks as a patchwork unit in 2025. Lomu is an athletic edge blocker with the nimble feet and quick hands to effectively shadowbox speed rushers on the blind side.

With Morgan Moses set to turn 35 in March, the Patriots land another young tackle to help protect Drake Maye.
