2019 Fantasy Football Projections: New England Patriots

- Updated: Saturday, July 27th

In addition to viewing our 2019 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2019 fantasy football projections for the New England Patriots.

PlayerAtt.Comp.YardsTDINTRushYardsTD Points
Tom Brady554.3366.44101.826.6110.2521.828.30.98258.72
Since 2002, Brady has played a full 16-game season in all but two seasons. Excluding those injury- and suspension-shortened seasons, Brady has finished as a top-12 fantasy quarterback every year except for two seasons (2013 and 2018). Even if Rob Gronkowski wasn't as dominant as he had typically been, Brady is now one year older and one weapon shorter. Another year outside fantasy's top-12 quarterbacks seems the most-likely scenario for arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history.

Sony Michel254.41119.49.4113.798.60.27179.88
The Patriots ran the ball 478 times, their third-most over the past 10 seasons, and it's likely that they run the ball even more in 2019 than they did in 2018. Most dominant during their Super Bowl run, Michel had 71 carries for 336 yards (4.73 YPC) and six touchdowns combined in the three games that mattered most. While Michel should continue to lead the team in rush attempts, there are a few concerns as well. He's a non-factor in the passing game (11 regular-season targets), rookie Damian Harris could cut into his early-down workload and his chronic knee issues could lead to the Patriots intentionally managing his workload during the regular season.
James White60.6260.61.8286.7754.36.5151.41
Coming off a career-best season, White shattered his previous marks with 181 touches including 87 receptions, 1,176 scrimmage yards and 12 touchdowns during the regular season. White may see fewer carries, but there's the potential that he's at least as involved as a receiver given the retirement of Rob Gronkowski. A top-12 performer in all scoring formats last season, White offers plenty of upside compared to his flex-range ADP.

Julian Edelman91.61044.26.329.774.70.1150.41
Adding his 26 postseason catches for 388 yards to his regular-season numbers, Edelman had 100 catches for 1,238 yards and six touchdowns over 15 total games last year. Giving the lack of pass-catching weapons in the offense, Edelman is going to be peppered with targets even more than usual.
N'Keal Harry51.9664.34.672.415.60.0296.13
New England's success of picking early-round wide receivers in the NFL Draft has been limited. Perhaps Harry bucks that trend and he's expected to start opposite Edelman in two-wide sets, but rookie ups and downs should be expected in an offense that has often been difficult for veteran free-agent wide receivers to learn.
Phillip Dorsett23.1288.81.623.623.80.0441.22

Braxton Berrios8.288.60.4100011.32
Maurice Harris0.99.70.040001.21
Josh Gordon0000000
Despite getting updates from the league, the fact that the Patriots tendered the indefinitely-suspended Gordon this offseason gives a glimmer of hope that he may see the field at some point. Given the immense talent, he's at least worth an end-of-draft dart throw in fantasy leagues this summer.

Ben Watson28.23132.2600044.86
With Rob Gronkowski retiring, Watson could become a viable TE2/streamer once he returns from his four-game suspension to start the year. The 38-year-old tight end had 35 catches for 400 yards and two touchdowns in New Orleans last season.
