2013 Fantasy Football Mock Draft - Standard Scoring
Scoring: This mock draft is based on re-draft leagues (2013 season only). Passing touchdowns are worth
four points while rushing and receiving touchdowns are worth six points. In addition, one point is earned per
25 passing yards, 10 rushing yards and 10 receiving yards.
For this mock draft, four EDSFootball.com contributors will draft for three teams per round.
We will draft 16 rounds and I will include commentary for each of the 192 picks.
This is a slow draft that is conducted offline, but picks/rounds of the draft will be posted as they are completed.
We have recently completed a Dynasty Mock Draft and will complete more mocks as the 2013 season approaches.
A number of factors led to Allen slipping to the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft including his recovery from a knee injury, a slow forty time at his personal pro day and rumors of a drug test being "red-flagged" at the combine.
With that said, Allen was one of the most talented receivers in this year's draft class and is a physical receiver that has been compared to Anquan Boldin. Allen had 98 receptions for 1,343 yards and six touchdowns two seasons ago for Cal.
12.02 - Kevin Hanson (Team 3): Rueben Randle, WR, New York Giants
Looking for a late-round receiver with plenty of upside? Then Randle may be your guy. He has the potential to put up Mario Manningham-like numbers behind the incumbent starters Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks.
Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride sang Randle's praises recently and said he's going to be plenty involved.
"Oh, he's gonna play. He's gonna play a lot," Gilbride said, per ESPN New York's Kieran Darcy. "He'll play first, second down, he'll be an outside receiver for us -- whether he's at the X or the Z, he's gonna play. He's looking like he deserves to be out there for significant time."
Before his rookie campaign was cut short by a stress fracture in his foot, Sanu had scored four touchdowns in his final three games played. While he's far from the fastest receiver on the field, he has the potential to provide some value to fantasy owners as a late-round pick.
Gates is clearly on the downward slope of his career as he gets ready to enter his age-33 season. In fact, he had his lowest totals (49 receptions and 538 yards) since his rookie campaign.
That said, Gates scored seven touchdowns last season, which extends his streak of seasons with seven-plus touchdowns to nine years.
Even though he averaged only 3.9 yards per carry, the good news for Greene is that he has back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. The bad news is that he won't even come close to having back-to-back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons as he takes a back seat to Chris Johnson.
In the final six games of the regular season, Moreno had five 20-carry games and a total of 130 carries for 510 yards and three touchdowns during that span. Even though the Broncos released Willis McGahee, they drafted Montee Ball in the second round and Moreno is likely to have a secondary (or tertiary) role behind Ball (and perhaps even Ronnie Hillman).
With the addition of Reggie Bush and presence of Mikel Leshoure, it may difficult for Bell to build upon his last year's solid season. But he's certainly putting in the time and having a good offseason.
"Joique has had an outstanding offseason," (coach Jim) Schwartz said, per Justin Rogers of MLive.com. "Him and (Matthew) Stafford probably spent most of the time here at the facility. Both guys lived here and both of them haunted the hallways in January, February and March, before our offseason program started."
Last year, Bell had 52 receptions for 485 yards and 82 carries for 414 yards.
12.08 - Sean Beazley (Team 2): Brian Quick, WR, St. Louis Rams
Making the transition from Appalachian State to the NFL, Quick was selected with the 33rd overall pick, first pick of the second round, in the 2012 NFL Draft.
As a rookie, Quick finished with only 11 receptions for 156 yards and two touchdowns, but he is confident that he will make a big improvement in his second season. Quick said (via Joe Lyons of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch), "... by the second half of last season, though, I felt a lot more comfortable and now, going into the second year, I really feel like I’m ready to show people what I can do."
Quick's combination of size (6-3, 220) and speed make him an intriguing late(r)-round selection with upside.
12.09 - Sean Beazley (Team 1): Robert Turbin, RB, Seattle Seahawks
Turbin will get an opportunity for third-down touches in the Seahawks offense. Last year, Turbin had 80 carries for 354 yards (4.4 yards per carry) and 19 receptions for 181 yards.
12.10 - Brendan Donahue (Team 1): Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears
The Bears had their first 1,000-yard receiver since 2002 with Brandon Marshall, who set the franchise's single-season receiving record. That said, Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler threw for only 202.2 yards per game while throwing 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
With quarterback guru Marc Trestman hired as the team's new head coach, things are looking up for Cutler and the Bears' offense in general.
12.11 - Dan Yanotchko (Team 1): Jermichael Finley, TE, Green Bay Packers
With Greg Jennings and Donald Driver no longer on the roster, Finley should have a greater opportunity within the offense, but he has repeatedly disappointed fantasy owners. While he had a career-high 61 receptions last year, he averaged a career-low 10.9 yards per reception and scored only two touchdowns.
Floyd led the Chargers in receiving last year with 56 receptions and 84 yards, but he once again failed to play in a full 16-game season. Floyd has played 16 games only once (2009) and it was Danario Alexander that was the team's leading receiver down the stretch.
In 2013, Floyd will be fighting for targets with Alexander, Vincent Brown and Keenan Allen and that will cap Floyd's upside even if he does stay healthy.
