2013 Fantasy Football Mock Draft - Standard Scoring
Scoring: This mock draft is based on re-draft leagues (2013 season only). Passing touchdowns are worth
four points while rushing and receiving touchdowns are worth six points. In addition, one point is earned per
25 passing yards, 10 rushing yards and 10 receiving yards.
For this mock draft, four EDSFootball.com contributors will draft for three teams per round.
We will draft 16 rounds and I will include commentary for each of the 192 picks.
This is a slow draft that is conducted offline, but picks/rounds of the draft will be posted as they are completed.
We have recently completed a Dynasty Mock Draft and will complete more mocks as the 2013 season approaches.
With the offensive turnover, Edelman has the potential to put up solid numbers in the Patriots offense. At this point, however, I'd prefer both Amendola and Dobson over Edelman.
14.02 - Kevin Hanson (Team 3): Mike Gillislee, RB, Miami Dolphins
In all likelihood, Lamar Miller will be the team's featured back, but the real battle is to be his backup between Thomas and Gillislee. I like Gillislee's vision and patience as a runner and wouldn't be surprised if he finished second among that trio in touches.
The Seahawks used a second-round pick on the physically-gifted runner from College Station. The presence of Marshawn Lynch limits Michael's opportunity to be productive as a rookie, barring injury.
Converted from quarterback, Robinson is listed as an "offensive weapon" as he transitions to play some running back and some wide receiver for the Jags. He does not have natural hands, but he is elusive in the open field.
Eifert has generated plenty of buzz this offseason with the Bengals. Had he landed in a different destination, he might have had an opportunity to make a larger immediate impact, but he should still be plenty involved in the Bengals' passing attack.
Taylor was a highly productive back for the Stanford Cardinal with three consecutive seasons with 1,000-plus yards and double-digit touchdowns. With plenty of competition from Mendenhall, Williams and fellow rookie Andre Ellington, Taylor is a better long-term option in dynasty leagues than re-draft formats.
Depending on the health of the team's other backs, Taylor could find himself with a more prominent role than most anticipate. Injuries to either Mendenhall or especially Ryan Williams, who was on crutches (knee) earlier this month, can open the door for Taylor.
Despite being undrafted out of Temple in 2012, Streater has good size (6-3, 200) and speed and is an excellent route-runner. The drawback with Streater heading into the 2013 season, however, is the team's lack of a reliable quarterback. Considering the Raiders will often play from behind, that's a disappointment.
14.08 - Sean Beazley (Team 2): Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Detroit Lions
Pettigrew missed the final two games of the season and finished with 59 receptions for 567 yards and three touchdowns. While he should get plenty of targets and a decent amount of yards (700'ish), Pettigrew has never had more than five touchdowns in any of his four seasons as a pro.
14.09 - Sean Beazley (Team 1): Santonio Holmes, WR, New York Jets
Returning from a Lisfranc injury, Holmes has said that he is unsure whether he will be able to play this year. With uncertainty surrounding Holmes' injury and the team's quarterback play, he's nothing more than a WR5 at best, but someone that I would avoid altogether.
14.10 - Brendan Donahue (Team 1): Bilal Powell, RB, New York Jets
From Week 11 to 17, Powell rushed for 299 yards, which ranked 29th in the league, and four touchdowns. Going into the 2013 season, however, it's likely that Powell gets less work with the presence of Ivory and Goodson. At best, Powell should finish third in touches among Jets running backs this year.
Then again, Ivory is not a model of durability and Goodson is currently a no-show at camp so Powell may get more work than anticipated.
In the Eagles' up-tempo offense under Chip Kelly, more than one, or even two backs, can have some relevance in fantasy leagues. One of the backs that may have as much relevance as Jones that is still available is Chris Polk, who has looked good camp.
14.12 - Kevin Hanson (Team 1): Jordan Cameron, TE, Cleveland Browns
Cameron isn't without his flaws as he has dealt with some drops, but he has elite athleticism for the position to become a mismatch nightmare for linebackers and safeties. In addition, the Browns offense will be very friendly to tight ends, which could lead to a breakout campaign.
