Amarius Mims — NFL Mock Draft Roundup 1.0
Leading up to the 2024 NFL Draft, we will track where Georgia Bulldogs offensive tackle Amarius Mims appears in the latest NFL mock drafts.
Amarius Mims NFL Mock Drafts
Here are some of the latest mock drafts in which Mims has appeared:
#20 overall, Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers go back to Georgia after selecting Broderick Jones and Darnell Washington last year and George Pickens in 2022. Mims would join Jones to give Pittsburgh a pair of athletic bookends with prototypical size.
#31 overall, San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers boast one of the league's better rosters so expect GM John Lynch to let the draft come to him with this pick at the bottom of RD 1. The Niners could be on the lookout for an EDGE player, particularly if they can't find a way to bring back Chase Young.
San Francisco needs to pay close attention to the offensive tackle spot. Trent Williams remains one of the best LT's in the game, but he'll be 36 next season, and starting RT Colton McKivitz is only signed through next season so adding a rookie with the size and athleticism to play either spot is key. To ensure fragile QB Brock Purdy's success into the future, they'l need to ensure to keep the QB hits to a minimum.
Georgia's Amarius Mims is 6'7, 340 lbs but he sure doesn't move like it. Mims is still a bit raw as a prospect, which doesn't necessarily fit the 49ers' usual mold, but Mims off the chart upside combined with the opportunity for "watch and learn" from Williams could be too enticing to pass up.

#18 overall, Cincinnati Bengals
Jonah Williams is slated to hit free agency in a few months. Amarius Mims has struggled to stay healthy but profiles as potentially the top offensive tackle prospect in the class. Orlando Brown Jr. was credited with allowing more pressures (54) than any other lineman in the league, according to TruMedia.
#17 overall, Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars need to shore up their offensive line to protect Trevor Lawrence, and they land a top tackle in Amarius Mims.
#18 overall, Cincinnati Bengals
Mims could be drafted top 10 or fall out of the top 20, and neither outcome would be overly surprising. The former five-star recruit has only eight starts to his name, but his limited tape is intriguing. He has an unbelievable combination of size, strength and movement skills. Ideally, the Bengals would want a more established prospect, but Mims' talent might be too good to pass up.
#9 overall, Chicago Bears
Health threw a bit of a wrench into Mims' eval this fall, but at 100% he's one of the most gifted athletes in the 2024 class. A plug-and-play option at right tackle, I would kick Darnell Wright to the left side (where he accrued 934 snaps at Tennessee) and fortify Justin Fields' blindside and arm side for the next decade. Braxton Jones has been a nice story as a fifth-rounder in '22, but there's room for an upgrade after finishing in the top 40 in pressures allowed among all offensive tackles despite just 11 appearances.
#22 overall, Los Angeles Rams
With size and physical tools at his disposal, Amarius Mims has the potential to be a Pro Bowl tackle in no time. The Los Angeles Rams get a lofty projection in terms of Mims' best, but even at his worst, Mims looks like an upgrade for LA in the immediacy.
Mims will knock defenders heads off with his strength and plays just as well backtracking as he does going forward.

#22 overall, Los Angeles Rams
The Rams' offensive line rebounded in a major way this season, but they lack depth at tackle. Mims is still very raw, and has dealt with multiple ankle injuries this season, but he towers (6-7, 340) over most of the competition and he moves easy considering his size. His athletic potential and his 2022 tape will be hard to ignore.
#23 overall, Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers traded up for another Georgia offensive tackle in 2023 (Broderick Jones) and they could pick another one here in 2024.
Amarius Mims is likely a right tackle in the NFL, but his size and power perfectly fit Pittsburgh. This would allow Jones to move back to left tackle, giving the Steelers one of the youngest offensive lines in the league.

#18 overall, Cincinnati Bengals
With Jonah Williams set to test free agency, the Bengals could be back in the market for tackle help. Mims, a mammoth of a human (6-foot-7, 340 pounds) with upside to match, started six games at right tackle for Georgia this season. Him and Orlando Brown Jr. would be one of the biggest tackle tandems in all of football.
#22 overall, Los Angeles Rams
Alaric Jackson was useful at left tackle after taking the job from Joe Noteboom, but he's a pending free agent and may not return. Los Angeles could replace him with a less expensive, higher ceiling option in Mims. The 6-foot-7, 340 pound UGA product is a leviathan on the line who didn't give up a single sack in three seasons with the Bulldogs.
Mims is a puncher at left tackle who uses that massive frame to rock pass rushers. A big part of Matthew Stafford's revival has been a significantly lower sack rate. Drafting Mims here can help ensure the soon-to-be 36-year-old stays protected.

#18 overall, Cincinnati Bengals
With Jonah Williams entering free agency, right tackle becomes an immediate hole for the Bengals -- especially because quarterback Joe Burrow is coming off a season-ending right wrist injury. Yes, Mims comes with questions; he has made nine starts in his career and missed six games in 2023 after undergoing TightRope ankle surgery. But at 6-foot-7 and 340 pounds, he is a nimble mover with great balance in pass protection and strength in the run game. If Tee Higgins ends up signing elsewhere, watch for a receiver here.
#13 overall, Las Vegas Raiders
Opinions vary greatly on Mims, who is a one-year starter, played two years as a backup and wanted to transfer. His size (6-foot-7, 340 pounds) is his biggest asset, but I'm not sure he's as polished a product as Georgia's Broderick Jones, who went 14th last year. Mims could battle for the right tackle job, or be the backup as a rookie.
