Colorado Rockies 2021 MLB Mock Draft Roundup

We've been tracking MLB mock drafts from various baseball analysts, writers and bloggers via our 2021 MLB Mock Draft Database.

The Colorado Rockies have the ninth pick in 2021 MLB Draft and our Colorado Rockies 2021 MLB Mock Draft Roundup compiles picks for the Rockies in recently-updated mock drafts.

The picks listed below are sorted by when the mock draft was updated (date in parenthesis) with the most recent mocks listed first.

> MLB Tickets: Colorado Rockies Tickets

MLB.com - Mayo (6/2)
Jackson Jobe, RHP, Heritage Hall HS (Oklahoma City)

It does seem like they prefer an arm like Jobe's over the college bats available.

The Athletic - Law (5/27)
Jackson Jobe, RHP, Heritage Hall (OK) High School

Colorado takes athletes, and Jobe is a great athlete himself whose father is a longtime professional golfer. I can't really argue with targeting pitching here, either, although they're also linked to House.

MLB.com - Callis (5/26)
Jackson Jobe, RHP, Heritage Hall HS (Oklahoma City)

Jobe might have the best slider in the Draft, his fastball and changeup can flash as plus-plus pitches and he pounds the strike zone, so he might overcome the bias against prep righties and go significantly higher than this. If they look beyond the consensus top tier, the Rockies could go for a college bat, such as outfielders Colton Cowser (Sam Houston) or Sal Frelick (Boston College) or shortstop Matt McLain (UCLA).

ESPN - McDaniel (5/11)
Gunnar Hoglund, RHP, Ole Miss

Hoglund walked off the mound in the first inning of Friday's start due to what his coach called forearm stiffness after the game. It isn't clear yet how serious this is, so I'll operate as though he'll be fine until we know for sure. With Rocker's recent velocity bounce-back, Hoglund was generally seen as the third college arm, just ahead of the Cusick/Madden/Bachman group. That likely puts him outside of the top five but securely in the top half of the first round.

His diagnosis obviously could adjust this, but his stuff fits the Rockies' stated preference to lean toward sinker-type fastballs rather than four-seamers. It sounds like House is a leading possibility if he makes it to this pick.
