Detroit Tigers 2021 MLB Mock Draft Roundup

We've been tracking MLB mock drafts from various baseball analysts, writers and bloggers via our 2021 MLB Mock Draft Database.

The Detroit Tigers have the 3rd pick in 2021 MLB Draft and our Detroit Tigers 2021 MLB Mock Draft Roundup compiles picks for the Tigers in recently-updated mock drafts.

The picks listed below are sorted by when the mock draft was updated (date in parenthesis) with the most recent mocks listed first.

> MLB Tickets: Detroit Tigers Tickets

MLB.com - Mayo (6/2)
Jack Leiter, RHP, Vanderbilt

I could definitely see one of the high school shortstops landing here, but right now, leaning toward the Tigers picking someone who might help sooner.

The Athletic - Law (5/27)
Marcelo Mayer, SS, Eastlake (CA) High School

I've heard Mayer is their main target, and if he's gone, they could go with the top high school pitcher in the draft, Jackson Jobe.

MLB.com - Callis (5/26)
Jordan Lawlar, SS, Jesuit Prep (Dallas)

The Tigers likely would take Mayer or Leiter, though their third choice is less clear. It could be Lawlar, No. 1 in my last first-round projection from three weeks ago, but Detroit may prefer Brady House among the other prep shortstops and could look elsewhere.

ESPN - McDaniel (5/11)
Marcelo Mayer, SS, Eastlake H.S. (CA), USC commit

Mayer is a fluid defender with advanced feel for contact and above-average power potential in a projectable 6-3 frame. There isn't an outrageous 70-grade tool, but basically everything else is here, and you can't rule out one showing up later.

Detroit has been on Mayer heavy, and he's the leading candidate to go third, but the Tigers are known to put enormous weight on SEC performance and love power pitchers, so either of the Vandy arms is still a possibility. They've also been in deep on multiple occasions, including GM Al Avila, to see Brady House.
