Carolina Panthers Mock Draft Roundup 1.0

Throughout the year and leading up to the 2021 NFL draft, we will update our Carolina Panthers Mock Draft Roundup showing picks for the Carolina Panthers from several prominent sites and draft analysts.

The following are picks in recent mock drafts for the Panthers:

Pro Football Network - DiCecco (6/7)
4) Carolina Panthers: Penei Sewell, OT Oregon

The Panthers significantly upgrade their offensive line by adding the best offensive lineman in the country. Sewell is as pro-ready as they come.

Fox Sports - McIntyre (6/7)
5. Carolina Panthers -- Ja'Marr Chase, WR, LSU

The Panthers went with the rare all-defensive draft, and assuming Teddy Bridgewater has a good season, I don't think a QB will definitely be in play here. But OC Joe Brady knows just how dominant Chase is.

Walter Football (5/19)
3. Carolina Panthers: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

If the Panthers are selecting third overall, there's a chance that Teddy Bridgewater endured a miserable season. If so, Carolina will have interest in a new franchise quarterback.

Fields made the egregious mistake of committing to a program with a talented, young quarterback in Jake Fromm, so he was blocked from starting. Fields, however, was able to transfer to Ohio State, where he dominated in his first season.

CBS Sports - Edwards (5/12)
7. Carolina Panthers: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

Carolina signed Teddy Bridgewater but it is difficult to believe that it might be a long-term fix. NFL teams have largely been unwilling to give him a starter's role. Fields is a special talent who will likely be taken earlier by a team willing to trade up.

CBS Sports - Trapasso (5/4)
5. Carolina Panthers: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

Even with Teddy Bridgewater in Carolina, this is basically a no-brainer. Fields is a big-time talent bound for another monstrous season at Ohio State.

PFF - Renner (4/30)
5. Carolina Panthers -- LB Micah Parsons, Penn State

Parsons is already elite when it comes to making actual linebacker reads, which is an ability that many scouts worried about when it came to Isaiah Simmons' evaluation. Parsons led the nation with a 94.8 run-defense grade as a sophomore. To play like a grown man at his age is special.

San Diego Union Tribune (4/29)
5. Carolina (80/1) -- Shaun Wade, CB, Ohio State

Wade is the next Buckeye cornerback up to be drafted in the first round. Goals for his junior season include winning a national title and showing scouts he can be a shutdown corner on the outside.

SI - Hanson (4/27)
5. Carolina Panthers: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

Carolina went all defense--literally, all seven picks--in Matt Rhule's first draft. In free agency, the Panthers reunited Teddy Bridgewater with offensive coordinator Joe Brady, both of whom were with the Saints in 2018. That signing should ease the challenge of implementing a new offensive scheme in such an unusual offseason. If an elite talent like Fields is available here, however, I doubt they pass on the opportunity to upgrade after giving Bridgewater a three-year deal. In his first season with the Buckeyes, Fields posted a 41-to-3 TD-to-INT ratio and added 10 rushing scores.

Bleacher Report - Miller (4/27)
4. Carolina Panthers -- QB Trey Lance, North Dakota State

Clemson's Trevor Lawrence gets all the preseason hype as far as quarterbacks go, but don't sleep on North Dakota State's Trey Lance.

The 6'3", 224-pound redshirt freshman threw for 28 touchdowns against zero interceptions with a 66.9 completion percentage in 2019 and then rushed for 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns to add to his impressive breakout season.

The Panthers are committed to Teddy Bridgewater for 2020, but the future is wide-open. If a dynamic, athletic passer like Lance enters the 2021 draft as a redshirt sophomore, there will be considerable excitement among NFL franchises.

SB Nation - Kadar (4/27)
4. Carolina Panthers: Walker Little, OT, Stanford

Left tackle Russell Okung is on just a one-year deal in Carolina, and the Panthers could find his replacement in Little. The belief was if Little didn't get hurt last season, he could have been a first-round pick this year.

The Athletic - Brugler (4/27)
3. Carolina Panthers -- *Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

Teddy Bridgewater was signed to be the starter in 2020 and probably 2021, but if the Panthers are picking this high next April, then quarterback will be high on the Panthers' wish list. Fields was outstanding as a sophomore, and with continued development this upcoming season, he will push to be drafted this early.
