- Worst ranking: 24th (ESPN)
Below you will find a Week 14 roundup for the Texans in our consensus 2020 NFL Power Rankings.
The Athletic -- Rank: 22
Best-case scenario: Deshaun Watson plays well and stays healthy. Does anything else really matter? The Texans lost in heartbreaking fashion Sunday, with a fumbled snap from the Indianapolis 2 yard line with 1:28 left potentially costing them a victory. Watson lit it up again, throwing for 341 yards and averaging 9.0 YPA despite the fact that Will Fuller was out of the lineup. Watson continues to show he can carry a passing game through challenging circumstances. Houston just needs to make sure it gets through the season with Watson in one piece so the organization can figure out how to move forward in 2021.
CBS Sports -- Rank: 17
The loss to the Colts pretty much ends their playoff chances. Now it's time to get to work on finding a general manager and coach.
USA Today -- Rank: 23
WR Keke Coutee had a career day (141 receiving yards) in the absence of the suspended Will Fuller V, but QB Deshaun Watson simply needs more help.
ESPN -- Rank: 24
Person with most at stake: RB David Johnson
With a $9 million cap hit next season, it would make sense for whoever takes over Houston's football operations to move on from Johnson. In nine games this season, Johnson has 452 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 113 carries. He missed three games with a concussion. But while Johnson might not be back in Houston, he is certainly playing for his next contract. Backup running back Duke Johnson also could be on this list. With a cap hit of $5.1 million in 2021 and one year left on his contract, the new front office/coaching staff could part ways with Duke Johnson as well, and start from scratch at the position next season. -- Sarah Barshop

he low snap was fired at Deshaun Watson's shins. The quarterback said after the game that he should have corralled the ball, but he could not, and the Colts pounced on it for a crushing turnover inside the Indy 10-yard line. It was the deciding play in a 26-20 loss that extinguished Houston's slim playoff hopes. Watson ended the game on the bench with a towel draped over his head. Complete dejection. "This s--- hurts," he said. "I'm tired of losing. Being so close over the years, it's just tough. It's tough." Watson should be proud of his season -- it's one of the best we've ever seen from a quarterback on a losing team.
