2020 NFL Power Rankings: New York Jets

Throughout the 2020 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Here is where the New York Jets rank in terms of average, best and worst:

Below you will find a Week 10 roundup for the Jets in our consensus 2020 NFL Power Rankings.

The Athletic -- Rank: 32

Aside from the Mekhi Becton injury, that was the perfect script for the Jets. They were competitive against the Patriots, some young guys like Denzel Mims flashed, but they still lost. Have to imagine Jets fans would sign up for seven more of those to ensure that they get the top overall pick.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 32

They had the Patriots beat. But in typical Jets fashion they blew it. At least Trevor Lawrence is still waiting.

USA Today -- Rank: 32

QB Joe Flacco bumps Joe Montana out of NFL's top 20 passing leaderboard ... and perhaps proves his future in New York is more secure than Sam Darnold's.

ESPN -- Rank: 32

Recalibrated expectation: One stinking win

The Jets figured to be only a six-win team in 2020, give or take, yet they've found a way to underachieve on low expectations. It takes a special kind of bad to do that. Quite simply, they don't have an NFL-caliber offense, which makes it kind of tough to ... you know, score points and win. They've been noncompetitive almost every week, once managing only 4 total yards in the second half of a game. Winning one game might be a high bar to set, but you have to dream big, right? -- Rich Cimini

NFL.com -- Rank: 32

For the first time this season, the Jets were legitimately competitive. But victorious? They're not there yet. Adam Gase's team coughed up a 10-point fourth-quarter lead and lost on a 51-yard field goal by ex-Jet Nick Folk as time expired in a painful 30-27 loss to the Patriots. New York is 0-9 for the first time in franchise history and one step closer to the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft -- and 0-16 infamy. The general consensus seems to be that the Jets won by losing on Monday night, a surface-level takeaway that ignores how much the players and coaches and behind-the-scenes personnel put into their jobs. "It hurts," Gase said after the game. "I thought guys battled, gave everything they had."
