2020 NFL Power Rankings: Pittsburgh Steelers

Throughout the 2020 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Here is where the Pittsburgh Steelers rank in terms of average, best and worst:

Below you will find a Week 1 roundup for the Steelers in our consensus 2020 NFL Power Rankings.

The Athletic -- Rank: 6

They've got a Super Bowl ceiling. When we last saw Ben Roethlisberger for an extended period of time in 2018, he was a top-10 quarterback. Of course, that was with Antonio Brown on the field. Roethlisberger still has a strong supporting cast in 2020, and the defense is loaded top-tier talents like T.J. Watt and Minkah Fitzpatrick. It's fair to question why Pittsburgh wasn't more aggressive in adding a backup QB, but if Mike Tomlin can produce an 8-8 record with Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges, the floor can't be that low here.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 5

With Ben Roethlisberger back and a top-three defense, they will win the AFC North and push for a Super Bowl. Mike Tomlin will get this team back on track after an injury-plagued 2019.

USA Today -- Rank: 6

In 2018, WR JuJu Smith-Schuster averaged 89.1 receiving yards per game. Last year, that figure cratered to 46.0 ypg. Welcome back, Big Ben.

ESPN -- Rank: 12

How durable is Ben Roethlisberger?

Brooke Pryor: He came back from major elbow surgery and looks accurate and strong in training camp practices, but how will he fare once the regular season starts? With the absence of a preseason, his first game action will come a day shy of a year since he sustained the elbow injury. Roethlisberger has the potential to be a "better Ben," as general manager Kevin Colbert touted this offseason, but can the 38-year-old quarterback play a complete season injury-free?

NFL.com -- Rank: 12

The biggest concern entering training camp in Pittsburgh revolved around the physical condition of Ben Roethlisberger, the franchise star QB attempting to come back from surgery to repair tears to all three ligaments in his throwing elbow. That no longer seems to be a worry as we enter Week 1. The Athletic reported last week that Big Ben "made every throw possible over the three-week camp and was impressive doing it." That news should spark a huge sigh of relief for Steelers fans who are undoubtedly aware that team management didn't leave themselves much of a safety net in the event that Roethlisberger had a setback or struggled mightily. Tragedy averted, the Steelers look locked and loaded with an offense that should return to top-five status in the AFC after a down year.
