Jared Goff's botched spike might have been my favorite moment of Week 5. The Rams hit Washington with an avalanche of explosive plays and improved to 4-0 against the NFC East this season. Aaron Donald had four sacks and a performance that was so dominant you just felt bad for the Washington offensive linemen -- if he had that game in Pop Warner, the coaches would have pulled him at halftime and made him play up a level or two. Donald has been great for a long time, but we might be seeing him at the peak of his powers right now. The Rams have a big one Sunday night at San Francisco.

They have dominated the NFC East to get to 4-1 to open the season. Sean McVay has this team playing well, and they are the class of the NFC West.

As well as QB Jared Goff and DL Aaron Donald are once again playing, a big reason Los Angeles is winning again is the underappreciated resurgence of its offensive line.

Biggest weakness: Kicking

The Rams are hitting their stride on offense and defense, but kicking remains a concern because of inexperience. The Rams selected Samuel Sloman with a seventh-round pick from Miami (Ohio) and stuck with him through a three-kicker competition during training camp. Sloman has connected on 75% of his field goal attempts (6-of-8), which ranks 28th in the NFL. However, it's fair to question why Sean McVay had the rookie attempt a 53-yard kick in windy conditions in Week 3 at Buffalo (all of Sloman's other attempts are from inside the 40-yard line). Sloman is 14-of-16 on extra point attempts (87.5%), which also ranks 28th in the league. -- Lindsey Thiry

After an ugly win over the Giants in Week 4, the Rams were back to looking like a balanced, high-functioning unit in a 30-10 win over Washington. Jared Goff started the game 13 of 14 for 194 yards and two total TDs (one rushing), and the incomparable Aaron Donald had a monster day, finishing with four sacks, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble. The DT leads the NFL with 7.5 sacks and is on pace for 24 this season. (Make the Sack Record Great Again!) Donald led a stifling Rams defense that allowed just 108 total yards, the fewest they've given up since holding Archie Manning and the Saints to 96 in a Week 12 conquest in 1980. If only the Rams could play an NFC East team every week -- L.A. swept the division before the arrival of sweater weather.
