New York Giants Mock Draft Roundup 1.0
Throughout the year and leading up to the 2021 NFL draft, we will update our New York Giants Mock Draft Roundup showing picks for the New York Giants from several prominent sites and draft analysts.
The following are picks in recent mock drafts for the Giants:
Pro Football Network - DiCecco (6/7)
5) New York Giants: Gregory Rousseau, EDGE Miami
Micah Parsons warrants consideration here, as the Giants desperately need rangy play-makers on the defensive side of the ball. However, Big Blue needs help on all three levels of the defense, so they opt for the premium position and secure Rousseau.
Fox Sports - McIntyre (6/7)
3. New York Giants -- Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
How long before Joe Judge looks at Daniel Jones and says … yeah, I'm going to need my own QB. Jones was up-and-down last year, but it's tough to crush him without mentioning the injury woes to the offense. Fields was outstanding in 2019, and if you remove the Clemson game, he threw 40 TDs with just one INT.
Walter Football (5/19)
20. New York Giants: Shaun Wade, CB, Ohio State
The Giants' issues in their secondary have been well documented. They need another upgrade at cornerback beyond James Bradberry.
Shaun Wade has a ton of upside and was able to produce well in the slot in 2019. He's expected to move outside this year.
CBS Sports - Edwards (5/12)
5. New York Giants: Gregory Rousseau, DL, Miami (FL)
The Giants finally get some pass rush help a few years after missing on Josh Allen. Rousseau quietly had one of the most impressive seasons of any pass rusher last season. His opportunities will be maximized in 2020 with Jaelan Phillips and Quincy Roche occupying blockers.
CBS Sports - Trapasso (5/4)
6. New York Giants: Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota
Bateman is a DUDE. Big, fast, quick, high-point dominance, run-after-the-catch brilliance. Perfect addition to the G-Men receiver room.
PFF - Renner (4/30)
7. New York Giants -- Edge Xavier Thomas, Clemson
We were expecting big things from Thomas heading into his sophomore year, but they never quite came to fruition. After racking up 26 pressures on 150 pass-rushing snaps as a freshman, Thomas had the exact same amount on 96 more pass-rushes as a sophomore. That talent he showed as a freshman didn't disappear, though.
San Diego Union Tribune (4/29)
8. N.Y. Giants (66/1) -- Justyn Ross, WR, Clemson
I expect a significant bump in production with Tee Higgins in Cincinnati.
SI - Hanson (4/27)
7. New York Giants: Justyn Ross, WR, Clemson
Dave Gettleman drafted a pair of tackles--Andrew Thomas and Matthew Peart--to protect Daniel Jones and now he adds a playmaking receiver to help his young quarterback. Ross wasn't as productive as he was in his 2018 true freshman season (46/1,000/9, 21.7 Y/R), but Trevor Lawrence's 6' 4" go-to receiver has the talent and upside to be a top-10 pick in the 2021 draft.
Bleacher Report - Miller (4/27)
8. New York Giants -- WR Justyn Ross, Clemson
If Devonta Smith is a clone of Jerry Jeudy, Justyn Ross is a faster clone of Tee Higgins. That'll be good enough for the New York Giants, who need size and speed and are still looking for a true No. 1 wide receiver.
Ross has shared the spotlight with a talented receiver trio in the past but will be the focal point of Trevor Lawrence's passing attack this year and should have no issue posting the type of production and showing the traits needed to be a first-rounder.
SB Nation - Kadar (4/27)
6. New York Giants: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
The Giants waited until the sixth round to address linebacker in the draft and could target the position in 2021. Parsons is the next great Penn State linebacker; he had 109 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and five sacks last season.
The Athletic - Brugler (4/27)
7. New York Giants -- *Justyn Ross, WR, Clemson
The Giants need more size at wide receiver to help Daniel Jones push the ball downfield. Ross is tall and long with acrobatic ball skills, offering the speed that makes him a playmaker at every level of the field.
