Pittsburgh Steelers Mock Draft Roundup 1.0

Throughout the year and leading up to the 2021 NFL draft, we will update our Pittsburgh Steelers Mock Draft Roundup showing picks for the Pittsburgh Steelers from several prominent sites and draft analysts.

For a more inclusive lists of mock drafts for the Pittsburgh Steelers, check out our 2021 Pittsburgh Steelers Mock Draft Database.

The following are picks in recent mock drafts for the Steelers:

Pro Football Network - DiCecco (6/7)
27) Pittsburgh Steelers: Josh Jobe, CB Alabama

Syracuse's Andre Cisco would make sense here, as Terrell Edmunds has largely been underwhelming to this point, but here they get a long, perimeter defender in Alabama's Josh Jobe. Jobe has limited production at the collegiate level, so you're essentially betting on upside, but he'll team with Steven Nelson, Justin Layne, and Mike Hilton to give the Steelers their youngest, most diverse cornerback group they've had in quite some time.

Fox Sports - McIntyre (6/7)
26. Pittsburgh Steelers -- Israel Mukuamu, DB, South Carolina

Two Steelers DBs are restricted free agents in 2021, and if they aren't retained, it'll be a position of need when the draft rolls around.

Walter Football (5/19)
24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jamie Newman, QB, Georgia

Mason Rudolph has shown no signs that he can be the Steelers' long-term quarterback. Say hello to Jamie Newman, who has created a buzz in the scouting community. He has nice passing talent and can also beat the opposition with his legs.

CBS Sports - Edwards (5/12)
25. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jamie Newman, QB, Georgia

Ben Roethlisberger missed the season with an injury. The 38-year-old must be nearing the end of his career, so Pittsburgh needs to consider an alternative. Newman transferred from Wake Forest to Georgia, which should create some exposure.

CBS Sports - Trapasso (5/4)
25. Pittsburgh Steelers: Trey Smith, OL, Tennessee

The Steelers offensive line is good, but it wouldn't hurt to inject some youth along the interior. Smith has been on the draft radar for years because of how athletic and powerful he proved to be at such a young age in the SEC.

PFF - Renner (4/30)
19. Pittsburgh Steelers -- IOL Trey Smith, Tennessee

Smith has been plagued by blood clots in his lungs, limiting his development since a fantastic freshman year and putting his playing career in jeopardy. We finally started to see him come on towards the end of last year, though, when he was one of the highest-graded guards over the second half of the season.

San Diego Union Tribune (4/29)
19. Pittsburgh (28/1) -- Jamie Newman, QB, Georgia

The last three top overall picks in the draft (Joe Burrow, Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield) were quarterbacks who transferred. Newman's move from Wake Forest to Georgia means a significant upgrade in talent surrounding him, especially on the offensive line.

SI - Hanson (4/27)
20. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jamie Newman, QB, Georgia

Ben Roethlisberger played in only two games last season and the Steelers struggled as backups Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges combined to throw 18 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Big Ben will be 39 years old entering the 2021 season, so Kevin Colbert could more aggressively pursue his successor in next year's draft. A graduate transfer from Wake Forest, Newman has the big arm and mobility to put himself into the first-round mix this time next year.

Bleacher Report - Miller (4/27)
21. Pittsburgh Steelers -- CB Patrick Surtain II, Alabama

This represents a slight fall for Patrick Surtain II based on where he'll sit on my early 2021 big board, but the Pittsburgh Steelers will gladly accept the slide as they get a potential shutdown cornerback in the early 20s of the round.

Surtain has excellent size (6'2", 203 lbs), an NFL bloodline and the instincts to match his potential with ball skills that teams covet. He's fast, physical and tough to beat on the line of scrimmage in press coverage.

SB Nation - Kadar (4/27)
18. Pittsburgh Steelers: Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama

Joe Haden and Mike Hilton are both free agents after this season, and the Steelers could look to get younger at the position.

The Athletic - Brugler (4/27)
18. Pittsburgh Steelers -- *Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida

The Steelers added Eric Ebron in free agency this offseason, but Pitts is the new and improved version. He has the frame of a tight end but the fluidity and ball skills of a receiver, making him a dynamic target downfield.
