2021 NFL Power Rankings: Arizona Cardinals

Throughout the 2021 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Here is where the Arizona Cardinals rank in terms of average, best and worst:

Below you will find a Week 16 roundup for the Cardinals in our consensus 2021 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 7

How hot is Kliff Kingsbury's seat: 2. Cool seat

This is an interesting question, because a few weeks ago, Kingsbury's seat was super cold -- like ice cold, as Outkast put it. But falling to the Lions on Sunday in the fashion the Cardinals did, which continued a slide of losing four of their past seven games, has warmed Kingsbury's seat a little. If the Cards have a third straight late-season collapse and it affects their playoff seeding dramatically, Kingsbury could possibly be out in Arizona, although 10 wins and a playoff berth is likely enough to keep him. But it'll depend on how bad it gets from now until they're eliminated from the postseason. -- Josh Weinfuss

NFL.com -- Rank: 5

The Cardinals have now lost four of seven after their 7-0 start. Sunday brought the season's most disappointing moment: a 30-12 defeat to the Lions in which the Cardinals were never particularly competitive. Did Arizona look past an inferior opponent? Has the offense become limited with DeAndre Hopkins out of the picture? Did the Cardinals -- gulp -- peak at the wrong time? All fair questions for a team that went from NFC leader to slumping superpower in danger of losing its grip on the NFC West. A home showdown with the surging Colts should tell us a lot about Kliff Kingsbury's team.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 8

In two weeks, they've gone from the top seed in the NFC to a team searching for answers. Losing to the Lions the way they did isn't a good look for a playoff team.

USA Today -- Rank: 8

They're 1-2 since the return of QB Kyler Murray, who's got three TDs, three INTs and an 82.4 passer rating in that stretch. Kliff Kingsbury's teams tend to be a horror show after Halloween, and Arizona has a scary matchup with Indianapolis on Christmas.

The Athletic -- Rank: 7

Our gift to you: One of those "Men in Black" mind-eraser things so we can all pretend Sunday's debacle in Detroit never happened. It was one thing to lose a close game to the Rams (even if L.A. was shorthanded), but losing to the Lions was inexcusable.
