2020 NFL Power Rankings: Cleveland Browns

Throughout the 2020 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Here is where the Cleveland Browns rank in terms of average, best and worst:

Below you will find a Week 4 roundup for the Browns in our consensus 2020 NFL Power Rankings.

The Athletic -- Rank: 18

What we learned: They've built one of the league's best offensive lines. And that's a credit to first-year GM Andrew Berry. The Browns signed right tackle Jack Conklin and drafted left tackle Jedrick Wills in the first round. In a win against Washington, Nick Chubb ran for 108 yards and averaged 5.7 YPC. Baker Mayfield had all day to find receivers. Through three weeks, the Browns rank seventh in ESPN's pass block win rate metric and fourth in Football Outsiders' adjusted line yards metric, which measures run blocking. We'll get a better sense of how good this team is during the upcoming three-game stretch: at Dallas, home versus the Colts, at Pittsburgh.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 18

At 2-1 do we really know much about this team considering who they beat in their two victories? We will know more this week against Dallas.

USA Today -- Rank: 17

QB Baker Mayfield won't win your fantasy league (he's completed 16 of 23 passes with two TDs each of the past two weeks), but it appears he's dialing into exactly what Cleveland needs him to be -- gasp, a game manager.

ESPN -- Rank: 18

What we got wrong: The offense would struggle out of the gate.

To be sure, the Browns struggled in a 32-point loss at Baltimore in the opener. But despite having to overcome a virtual offseason, shortened training camp and a new offensive scheme, the Browns bounced back to score 30 or more points in consecutive games for the first time since 2010. According to ESPN Stats & Information research, that drought without consecutive 30-point games was the longest active one in the NFL. Powered by its running game, Cleveland surprisingly has already uncovered a clear offensive identity. And as the players continue to settle into coach Kevin Stefanski's offensive system, the Browns figure only to improve from here. -- Jake Trotter

NFL.com -- Rank: 15

Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr. get the headlines, but Nick Chubb is easily the best player the Browns have on offense. This from NFL Research: Chubb is the third player in team history with consecutive games of 100-plus rushing yards and at least two rushing scores, joining Hall of Famers Leroy Kelly and Jim Brown (Brown did it four times, naturally). Chubb's greatness -- coupled with Dwayne Haskins' carelessness -- allowed the Browns to secure the win on a day in which the Washington pass rush kept Cleveland's air game in check. Chubb and Kareem Hunt are both on pace to rush for more than 1,000 yards this season -- the pair could be the franchise's ticket back to playoff football for the first time since 2002.
