2020 NFL Power Rankings: Denver Broncos
Throughout the 2020 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.
Here is where the Denver Broncos rank in terms of average, best and worst:
- Average ranking: 18.4 (17th)
- Best ranking: 15th (Multiple)
- Worst ranking: 24th (The Athletic)
Below you will find a Week 1 roundup for the Broncos in our consensus 2020 NFL Power Rankings.
The Athletic -- Rank: 24
The NFL season will be more fun if Drew Lock plays well. He's a fun quarterback to watch, and with Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Noah Fant, the Broncos have surrounded him with plenty of pass-catching talent. But the Broncos are going all-in with Lock after just 172 pass plays last season, and their offensive line could be an issue. With Vic Fangio, Denver is likely to maximize its defensive talent. The playoffs are possible, but they might be a year away.
CBS Sports -- Rank: 15
The defense will be good, so it's all about the offense. I think Drew Lock will have a good second season to take this team to the playoffs.
USA Today -- Rank: 15
The buzz is palpable. But will reconfigured line coalesce in front of QB Drew Lock and Co.? And will OLB Bradley Chubb really be near 100%?
ESPN -- Rank: 17
Is this young offense ready to go?
Jeff Legwold: No on-field work in the offseason and a truncated training camp offered a limited look at the Broncos' offensive potential. Quarterback Drew Lock will be in his first full season as a starter with a potential starting lineup whose average age is just 24. The offense certainly had moments in camp when it flashed what it could do, but overall it might have to lean on the running game early.

This time next year, will we view Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy as the best wide receiver duo in the NFL? That's obviously the ceiling John Elway had in mind when he selected Jeudy with the 15th overall pick in April's draft. Sutton piled up 72 receptions, 1,112 receiving yards and six touchdowns with a messy quarterback situation in 2019, and camp reports presented Jeudy as an explosive star-in-waiting who will perfectly complement what Sutton brings to the offense. We haven't seen enough to know if Drew Lock is a legit starter in the NFL, but the Broncos have supplied the young passer with the best 1-2 punch in Denver since Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders.
