2021 NFL Power Rankings: Indianapolis Colts

Throughout the 2021 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Here is where the Indianapolis Colts rank in terms of average, best and worst:

Below you will find a Week 8 roundup for the Colts in our consensus 2021 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 16

Prediction we missed: WR T.Y. Hilton would be QB Carson Wentz's deep threat.

It is hard to be Wentz's deep threat when you have been consistently injured. That's been the case with Hilton. He has played in only one of a possible seven games this season because of quad and disc injuries. Hilton, though, did have a 52-yard reception in the one game he played in. -- Mike Wells

NFL.com -- Rank: 16

They don't play a particularly pretty brand of football, but the Colts don't mind rolling in the mud. We saw that on Sunday night in soggy Santa Clara, where Indianapolis scored a 30-18 win over the 49ers to remain within striking distance of the red-hot Titans in the AFC South. Jonathan Taylor has now gone over 100 scrimmage yards in four straight games, while Carson Wentz made big plays down the stretch -- none bigger than the 28-yard fourth-quarter touchdown strike to Michael Pittman that iced the Niners. A Week 8 showdown with the Titans at Lucas Oil Field will have massive implications in the division.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 16

That was a tough, ugly win at San Francisco, but one they had to have. This week they face a huge division game with the Titans.

USA Today -- Rank: 17

QB Carson Wentz has one INT after hoisting league-high 15 in 2020, and he's also sporting career-best 102.8 passer rating. This whole Frank Reich reunion apparently is just what the doctor ordered.

The Athletic -- Rank: 17

Trick or treat: We've been pleasantly surprised by the Colts' turnaround in recent weeks, especially after a typically turnover-prone quarterback engineered an offense that scored 30 points in a miserable rainstorm in Santa Clara. But with the way this Colts season has gone, we're tiptoeing slowly, terrified about what might be lurking around the corner -- like the Titans, who visit on Sunday.
