2021 NFL Power Rankings: Jacksonville Jaguars

Throughout the 2021 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Here is where the Jacksonville Jaguars rank in terms of average, best and worst:

Below you will find a Week 5 roundup for the Jaguars in our consensus 2021 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 32

Biggest surprise: Josh Lambo's struggles

Why it's a surprise: There hasn't been much the Jaguars have been able to count on over the past several seasons other than Lambo. Lambo earned the "Lambomatic" nickname because he had made 95% of his field goal attempts with the Jaguars (76 of 80) from the time he joined the team in October 2017 through the 2020 season. But he's 0-for-3 this season, didn't play last week because of personal reasons, and coach Urban Meyer said Lambo will have to compete with Matthew Wright for the kicking job this week. An offense averaging just 18.5 points per game needs a reliable kicker. If Lambo doesn't rebound this week, his time in Jacksonville is likely done. -- Mike DiRocco

NFL.com -- Rank: 30

Urban Meyer called Thursday's night's 24-21 overtime loss to the Bengals "devastating" and "heartbreaking." You get it: Meyer isn't used to losing, and he's now dropped four consecutive games for the first time in a head-coaching career that dates back to 2001. The Jaguars coughed up 14-0 and 21-14 leads in Cincinnati, but Jacksonville played a much more competitive brand of football than we saw over the season's first three weeks. Monday brought needless drama, as Meyer was forced to address a viral video that showed a woman dancing close to his lap in a Columbus, Ohio, bar. "I just apologized to the team and staff for being a distraction," Meyer said.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 32

Urban Meyer's NFL career is off to a shaky start. His team hasn't won and the video from his night on the town doesn't help his standing. He needs a victory in the worst way.

USA Today -- Rank: 32

Shouldn't Urban Meyer apologize for being a distraction over the previous nine months as well?

The Athletic -- Rank: 32

The Jags' Thursday night loss to Cincinnati feels like it was ages ago, and is now basically a footnote in all of the Urban Meyer drama that's happened since. Football-wise, it was the Jags' best game, and Trevor Lawrence made a few jaw-dropping throws to remind us all why he was the clear No. 1 prospect in the 2021 draft. And yet, the Jags still lost and Meyer has made them a major story for all the wrong reasons.
