Below you will find a post-NFL Draft roundup for the Chargers in our consensus 2020 NFL Power Rankings.
The Athletic -- Rank: 25
At least we don't have to wonder anymore about what the Chargers' plan is at quarterback. It was never going to be just Tyrod Taylor, and now, after the draft, we know it's going to be Taylor and No. 6 pick Justin Herbert. We'll pencil Taylor in as the Week 1 starter -- could Joe Burrow be on the only rookie starter in September? -- and see what happens from there.
CBS Sports -- Rank: 21
They are talented, so it's all about the quarterback spot. How long does Tyrod Taylor keep the job before first-round pick Justin Herbert takes it?
USA Today -- Rank: 17
Picked up a quarterback (Justin Herbert) and quarterback on defense (LB Kenneth Murray) in Round 1, and they'll be best-looking rookies in league next season ... because these new uniforms won the offseason going away.
ESPN -- Rank: 24
Players who benefited: OTs Sam Tevi and Trey Pipkins. It was widely predicted that the Chargers would look for their future left tackle in the draft. However, they did not select an offensive lineman, despite trading up to make a second first-round pick (linebacker Kenneth Murray). Their decision not to draft an offensive lineman must point to their confidence that an internal candidate is ready to take over. Tevi's and Pipkins' names have been the two most often mentioned by Chargers coach Anthony Lynn and general manager Tom Telesco. -- Lindsey Thiry
NFL.com -- Rank: 23
Let's welcome Justin Herbert, who becomes just the latest QB prospect to blast away an offseason's worth of notebook ledes exclaiming "Team X views Tyrod Taylor as a potential long-term starter." That was never going to be the case in L.A., and the Dolphins removed a potentially agonizing decision when they selected Tua Tagovailoa the pick before the Bolts hit the clock at No. 6. Herbert is big -- 6-foot-6 big -- and has the tools to be a star, but we're told it may take time. That makes Taylor the perfect in-house option to hold the fort. We'll see how long the Chargers can resist temptation. GM Tom Telesco made more waves on Thursday night by trading back into the first round to land inside linebacker Kenneth Murray, who should be an immediate starter. Well, he had better be.
