ESPN -- Rank: 13
Biggest surprise: Jamal Adams doesn't have a sack
Why it's a surprise: The Seahawks aren't giving Adams as many opportunities to rush the passer as they did last season, when he set an NFL record for sacks by a defensive back with 9.5 in only 12 games. Defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. suggested over the summer that Adams might not blitz as much this season. Still, it is surprising that he isn't blitzing more given how up and down Seattle's pass rush has been -- generating nine sacks in four games. Without taking advantage of Adams' best strength, the Seahawks aren't getting the most out of their $17.5 million per year safety. Adams has rushed the passer 13 times through four games after averaging 8.25 rushes per game last year, per ESPN Stats & Information research. -- Brady Henderson

"We don't lose three in a row around here." Those were the words of left tackle Duane Brown after the Seahawks delivered their best all-around performance of the season in a 28-21 win over the 49ers at Levi's Stadium. Russell Wilson accounted for three touchdowns, while the Seattle defense -- so thoroughly outclassed in Minnesota a week earlier -- shut down the San Francisco attack in an important NFC West showdown. There was some good fortune mixed in. Niners QB Jimmy Garoppolo exited at halftime with a calf injury, and San Francisco kicker Robbie Gould was scratched moments before kickoff with a groin issue, but the Seahawks showed up ready to play and got the job done. For the record, Seattle hasn't had a three-game losing streak in 10 years.
CBS Sports -- Rank: 14
They won a had-to-have-it game against the 49ers with an improved defensive effort. That's something they had to see.
USA Today -- Rank: 18
Of all the amazing Russell Wilson stats floating around, the fact he's never lost three straight games in any season -- and is now in his 10th year and 100 victories in -- might be the most mind-boggling of all.
The Athletic -- Rank: 12
The Seahawks went three-and-out on their first five possessions against the 49ers and gained a net total of minus-12 yards on those 15 plays. Then they scored touchdowns on four of their next five possessions, not including a kneeldown at the end of the first half. In other words, it was a typical oddball Seahawks performance. They take on the Rams on Thursday night in the "Shane Waldron Bowl."
