Indianapolis Colts Mock Draft Roundup 6.0

Throughout the year and leading up to the 2021 NFL draft, we will update our Indianapolis Colts Mock Draft Roundup showing picks for the Indianapolis Colts from several prominent sites and draft analysts.

For a more inclusive lists of mock drafts for the Indianapolis Colts, check out our 2021 Indianapolis Colts Mock Draft Database.

The following are picks in recent mock drafts for the Colts:

EDSFootball - Hanson (3/5)

21. Jaelan Phillips, EDGE, Miami (FL)

With the top three (four if you count Vera-Tucker) offensive tackles off the board, I still considered Oklahoma State's Teven Jenkins here. In a year with a deep tackle class, however, the Colts address Anthony Costanzo's retirement in the second round of this mock.

Justin Houston has 19.0 sacks in his two seasons in Indianapolis, but the 32-year-old edge rusher is set to become a free agent later this month. Phillips has taken an indirect path from five-star recruit -- No. 3 in 2017 ESPN 300 -- to potential first-round pick. Unretiring from football and transferring from UCLA, Phillips had eight sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss over 10 games in his only season with the Hurricanes. The scheme-diverse edge rusher has the strength and length to set the edge and the quickness and bend to disrupt the passing game.

ESPN - McShay (3/4)

21. Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami (FL)

Christian Darrisaw might be an option if still available, filling in Anthony Castonzo's spot at left tackle, or the Colts might take a long look at Trevon Moehrig (TCU) at safety. But it's hard to ignore the need for pass-rush depth, especially as Indy deals with free-agency concerns on the edge. Rousseau hasn't played since 2019, but he had 15.5 sacks in that season and can overwhelm blockers with his power. He'd help keep an elite defense at the top of its game.

Mike Wells on his fit with the Colts: Pass-rusher is the Colts' most important area to address this offseason, especially with veteran Justin Houston being a free agent and the team looking to get younger there. Sliding in alongside DeForest Buckner, Rousseau would have an opportunity to be a day one starter if Indy doesn't re-sign Houston, especially if Kemoko Turay's struggles continue.

CBS Sports - Trapasso (3/3)

21. Elijah Moore, WR, Mississippi

Moore is the type of YAC weapon Frank Reich will love in his quick-strike offense.

The Athletic - Beat Writers (3/1)

21. Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech

This isn't necessarily as simple as taking the top offensive tackle on the board. At the same time ... the Colts take the top offensive tackle on the board. Keeping their first-round choice in the Carson Wentz trade allows the Colts to shore up their left tackle spot after the retirement of Anthony Castonzo, and that's great news for Wentz after his league-high 50 sacks in Philadelphia last season. Darrisaw can play in space, but he brings a physicality that will serve him well in Indy's power-run game. -- Stephen Holder

Touchdown Wire - Farrar (2/26)

21. Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech

Colts left tackle Anthony Castonzo's retirement has some people thinking that it's time to move guard Quenton Nelson to left tackle. Instead of negating the best guard in football, how about the Colts just get a new guy to replace Castonzo, and leave the Ultimate Mauler where he is? Sounds like a better plan.

Last season, Darrisaw allowed no pressures of any kind -- no sacks, no quarterback hits, and no quarterback hurries -- on 293 pass-blocking snaps. That was a big jump from the three sacks, four hits, and 10 hurries he allowed in 2019. Darrisaw has done work to refine his turn around the arc and kick-slide in pass protection, and let's just say he'd be an ideal complement to an offensive line that prefers to play with a physical nature. You can ask North Carolina pass-rusher Chazz Surratt about that, if Darrisaw has stopped blocking him downfield yet.

You think Carson Wentz would like this guy lining up next to Quenton Nelson in 2021 and beyond? I do.

NFL.com - Casserly (2/25)

21. Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State

With Anthony Castonzo's retirement, Jenkins fills in as a Day 1 starter to man Carson Wentz's blindside.

MLive.com - Meinke (2/25)

21. Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina

General manager Chris Ballard loves big corners, and Horn, at 6-foot-1, fits the bill. He allowed eight catches on 24 targets for 116 yards in seven games last season.

San Diego Union Tribune (2/24)

21. Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami (FL)

I expected the Colts to be aggressive seeking their next quarterback in the trade market and they didn't disappoint. The next biggest priority is to continue building their pass rush. It's been almost two decades since a Hurricane defensive end was taken in the first round (Jerome McDougle in 2003). Rousseau finished with 15.5 sacks in 13 games as a redshirt freshman, but opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns.
