2023 NFL Power Rankings: New York Giants

Throughout the 2023 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Below you will find a Week 16 roundup for the New York Giants in our consensus 2023 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 25

We're No. 1 ... at punts.

It was hard to find something, but nobody has punted more than the Giants. They even have a partner -- the Jets also have 81 punts through 14 games -- to make it a New York puntfest. It's only appropriate to stress this category for the Giants because punter Jamie Gillan and the punt coverage unit have been among the few positives (averaging 43.1 net yards per punt) throughout this disappointing season. -- Jordan Raanan

Hard to ding Tommy DeVito too much for Sunday's loss, as the offensive line reverted to some old bad habits and his wide receivers did next to nothing for him when it was still a close game. DeVito probably was responsible for a few of the seven sacks, but he took some hard hits (one on which led to him being tested for a concussion) and kept battling throughout. He's positioning himself to be at least the favorite to be QB2 behind Daniel Jones next season, and nothing that happened Sunday should undercut that. It was good to see Darren Waller back and making an impact, but contributions from Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt have varied wildly week to week. It'd be nice if the Giants could showcase those two young wideouts down the stretch.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 27

The three-game winning streak ended with an ugly showing against the Saints. They are basically done.

USA Today -- Rank: 28

They have the most touchdowns, yards and first downs ... in New York, er, New Jersey. But it could be tough to maintain that pace with a Christmas spent in Philadelphia.

The Athletic -- Rank: 26

Surprise: They screwed up the 2024 draft

The Tommy DeVito story is great, or at least was until Sunday when New York lost for the first time in a month, but how fondly will it be remembered in New York in the future? The three wins that DeVito led before this have moved the Giants to the No. 7 pick in the 2024 draft at the moment. There's still hope considering New York has to play the Eagles twice in the final three games, but for now the Giants still don't have an answer to their quarterback problem.

FOX -- Rank: 23

It feels unfair to expect much more from Tommy DeVito in these circumstances, but the breading came off the cutlet a little bit in New Orleans. If he can recapture the magic against the big, bad Eagles, Giants fans have to consider it the high point of their season.

Yahoo! -- Rank: 27

The Tommy DeVito story was never guaranteed to last long. And there might be some more exciting moments to come this season. But Sunday's loss, when the Giants never scored a touchdown against the Saints, reminds the Giants that the offseason might start back at square one.

PFT -- Rank: 26

Tommy DeVito should have taken the $10,000 when he had the chance.
