One of the team strengths for the Bucs is their ability to get after the quarterback (47 sacks, third in NFL). That said, Shaquil Barrett (eight sacks) played last season on the franchise tag and the 32-year-old Jason Pierre-Paul (team-high 9.5 sacks) will enter the final year of his contract in 2021.

Despite the lack of production (zero sacks in 2020 after posting five in 2019), Oweh has rare traits that could entice a team in the back end of Round 1 to take a chance on his enormous upside. As Bruce Feldman noted in his annual Freaks list, Oweh is "the most explosive one of the bunch" (of athletic freaks) as he reportedly ran a 4.33 forty (as an edge defender).

Tampa Bay can replenish a front seven that could look a lot different in Week 1 than it did on Super Bowl Sunday. Davis could potentially be considered a reach here, but he's very underrated, and I love his tape. If the Buccaneers can't hang on to Lavonte David, Davis -- who made 102 tackles and picked off three passes last season -- could slide into his role alongside Devin White. Someone like Alabama defensive tackle Christian Barmore also makes some sense here.

Jenna Laine on his fit with the Buccaneers: The inside linebackers are the stars of Todd Bowles' defense. David is a free agent and just turned 31, and even if Tampa Bay brings him back, Davis could make sense for the future. He can line up in different spots, which Bowles asks his inside guys to do, and he gives the Bucs length that they lack there.

Oweh isn't a finished product but has All-Pro athletic traits and a chiseled frame.

With little depth behind Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul, an outside pass rusher makes good sense for the Bucs, who would love for Phillips to fall to them. If free agency creates a more immediate hole to fill, they could turn to Iowa defensive lineman Daviyon Nixon here, but Ossai adds a much-needed dose of youth to Tampa Bay's pass rush. -- Greg Auman

Bucs edge-rusher Shaquil Barrett, who had a legitimate case to be Super Bowl LV's Most Valuable Player, recently said that he's ready to cash in as a free agent.

“I'm most definitely looking forward to getting a long-term deal done...” Barrett recently told Adam Schein of SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio. “I feel like it's time for me to break the bank now, and I most definitely want to do that to be able to set my family up better and most definitely going to keep producing, so it's not like anything is going to fall off. I still think I got a lot left in the tank.”

So with that in mind, it might be time for Tampa Bay to consider Barrett's replacement.

Phillips started his collegiate career at UCLA, but medically retired from the game in 2018 after he was hit by a car while riding a scooter. He suffered wrist and head injuries in that accident and hung up his cleats after suffering another concussion. After a year away from the game, he returned with the Hurricanes in 2020, and showed absolutely no ill effects, with eight sacks, four quarterback hits, 29 quarterback hurries, and 18 run stops in 542 snaps. Teams will want to go over that injury history of course, but Phillips has everything you want in a pass-rusher, from advanced hand movement to a wicked inside counter.

The Bucs have a lot of guys to pay this offseason, so my guess is Shaquil Barrett will depart in free agency. Jones would be a good fit in Todd Bowles' unit.

Ndamukong Suh, Rakeem Nunez-Roches and Steve McLendon will all be free agents. Nixon, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, was a consensus All-American and would create a dominant duo for the champs in the middle with Vita Vea.
