2021 NFL Power Rankings: Chicago Bears

Throughout the 2021 NFL season, we will compile a consensus NFL Power Rankings that averages the rankings of all 32 NFL teams.

Here is where the Chicago Bears rank in terms of average, best and worst:

Below you will find a Week 16 roundup for the Bears in our consensus 2021 NFL Power Rankings.

ESPN -- Rank: 28

How hot is Matt Nagy's seat: 4. Hot seat

Speculation has been brewing for months, and the expectation after another losing season is that the Bears will move on from Nagy in a matter of weeks. Nagy was hired in 2018 with the belief he would ignite Chicago's offense. That hasn't happened -- the Bears have scored the eighth-fewest points in the NFL under his leadership -- nor has rookie quarterback Justin Fields' development gone according to plan. Nagy's handling of playcalling duties has been troublesome this season, and the 295 points Chicago surrendered in its 10 losses make it unlikely that ownership does anything but hit the reset button this offseason. -- Courtney Cronin

NFL.com -- Rank: 26

The Bears deserve credit for fighting hard in Monday night's 17-9 loss to the Vikings. Chicago was missing a host of starters because of injuries and COVID-19 designations, but it battled to the end thanks to a stout defense that made life extremely difficult for Kirk Cousins (a career-worst 87 passing yards). If only Matt Nagy -- manic throughout the affair -- could unlock his own offense. Justin Fields and the Chicago attack couldn't find the end zone until a meaningless score as time expired, while five personal fouls (one committed by Nagy himself) furthered the narrative that this is a lost team wandering through the woods. Well, they are Bears.

CBS Sports -- Rank: 27

Justin Fields did some things against the Vikings that offer encouragement for the future. He'll be doing it for a new coach next year. They need to hire a guy to develop him.

USA Today -- Rank: 28

Watching this team play can make your eyes bleed, and that air raid siren at Soldier Field has a similar effect on the ears.

The Athletic -- Rank: 27

Our gift to you: Anything Justin Fields' heart desires. A fresh start, an improved offensive line. Just one damn game without taking a brutal hit. Fresh accessories and a basket full of treats for his dog, Uno. Fields deserves all of it after this mess of a rookie year.
