ESPN -- Rank: 32
How hot is Darrell Bevell's seat: 4. Hot seat
Team owner Shad Khan fired Urban Meyer last week, and now it's Khan who is on the hot seat. He has missed on every coaching/GM hire he has made in the 10 years he has owned the team, and he better get this one right. QB Trevor Lawrence's future is at stake, and if Khan blows this hire, it might set the franchise back another decade. -- Mike DiRocco

See? It wasn't Urban Meyer's fault, after all. We kid ... but Sunday's 30-16 loss to the Texans served as a reminder that Meyer's general incompetence combined with Jacksonville's young and talent-deficient roster made for one of the gnarliest failure stews in recent memory. The only real goals left this season: 1) Escape the final three weeks without any serious injury to Trevor Lawrence; and 2) lock down the No. 1 overall pick for the second consecutive year. Facing the similarly downtrodden Jets puts an uncertain competitive glow upon Week 16.
CBS Sports -- Rank: 32
So it didn't matter who was coach of this team. This year is a complete waste in terms of the growth of Trevor Lawrence. The next coach has to be all about him.
USA Today -- Rank: 32
Huge, huge game against the Jets on Sunday. A Jacksonville win threatens to drop them from picking first in the 2022 draft to fourth.
The Athletic -- Rank: 32
Our gift to you: A blissful quarterback-coach marriage. We won't use this space to advocate for any one head coach to be hired as Urban Meyer's replacement. Only that whoever takes the helm can connect with Trevor Lawrence and maximize the talent of the No. 1 pick. Yes, the Jaguars have to nail this search. But their future success is even more dependent on Lawrence, who can accelerate his NFL learning curve with the help of a head coach who will cater his system to the young quarterback.
